This review is about the restaurant area not the hotel side.
Visited Sir Thomas for an champagne afternoon tea, as soon as we sat down they brought out the tier of cakes and sandwiches. Very quick, however I wasn't expecting it to be that quick. I'd hoped to ask them to not give my tier any meat sandwiches (vegetarian) or if it was possible just to have cucumber. I don't eat cheese sandwiches so I didn't really have much choice. My mum gave me her cheese one and I reluctantly ate both cheese sandwiches from both tiers, they did taste nice at the time but I'd have preferred not to eat them.
As for the sweets, I don't eat cream so couldn't eat the profiterole, my mum enjoyed both of them. The lemon tart was very nice. The scone was a decent size and tasted nice. It came with clotted cream and jam in separate pots. Didn't try the cream, but the jam was nice.
Don't usually like champagne but it was very nice here.
Overall I'd go back again if it was on offer again (used groupon) but I wouldn't pay the full price for a slice of cheese butty I don't usually eat and just some of the sweets on offer.
My Mum and I both did leave smiling after a nice afternoon tea, which is what matters though.More
