“Lovely Modern Hotel...”
Reviewed 11 April 2012

Loved the deco of the hotel and its location right in the center of Liverpool - within walking distance of Liverpool 1! It has free wifi everywhere and we loved the fact that its situated in a revamped building from the 1850s. The facilities are excellent with a nice mini-kitchen and beautiful room deco - quite posh looking for the price of a shoestring...

The only gripe I have with this place is the confusing one-way street system which keeps make you go around the hotel, instead of to it. Also parking is off-site, but its safe and reasonable.

All in all - the only hotel we'd stay in the Liverpool area!

Room Tip: Ask the reception for a room away from the clubs - it can get pretty noisy at night on the weekends.

Thank you for your lovely review of base2stay Liverpool. I am sorry about the issue with the new one way system in Seel Street, which now runs from Hanover Street (via Gradwell street) to Berry Street. Most Satnavs haven’t been updated so please don’t hesitate to call our reception for directions and there is a map and directions on our website. As with most city centre hotels there is limited amount of parking; however the Q car park is only a 2 minute walk from the hotel (on Gradwell street) and is extremely modern, well signed and secure. We offer a discounted rate of £9 per 24hour stay. As we are surrounded by some of Liverpool’s best restaurants, clubs and bars, it can get quite lively outside the hotel, but with our triple glazing, I am pleased to say that it is rare that guests are disturbed.

I look forward to welcoming you back to base2stay soon.

This has got to be the best hotel in Liverpool, definitely the best hotel I've stayed at in England. Free wifi throughout the entire hotel, in an excellent area within walking distance to most things. The place is trendy, clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Don't be fooled by some of the empty buildings in the area, the area is nice and the hotel is amazing.

We booked 8 triple rooms at this hotel for a hen party. Despite there being 22 of us to check in, many paying separately, the reception staff were extremely quick and efficient and the process was so much less painful than I had expected.
The hotel itself is modern, in a great location 2 mins away from the shops and bars and the rooms were ideal.
Despite this being a large hotel which is ideal for large groups, it was extremely quiet.
Would thoroughly recommend.

This hotel was excellent, at £50 - 60 a night this places the hotel in the higher budget section, however it beats its chain rivals such as travel lodge, premier inn etc hands down.

I recommend the 4th floor as the timber beams from the roof are a feature of the room. As long as you do not want food on the premises (which is not a problem as a continental breakfast can be delivered to your door) then this will prove to be a superb choice. For evening meals the location could not be better as Seel Street is in the heart of the entertainment district. The bars, the restaurants, China Town, dirty late night kebabs and Tesco Metro are all within 1 minute away.standard than you would expect for a budget hotel.

The room itself is of a decent size and well kitted out. The finish is to a higher stthe bathroom large enough for two. The waldrobe space, the fridge, sink and microwave in the room are all of a decent size.

The staff could not have been better.

Foyer is modern and you would not be embarassed to invite a person back to it whether for business or more.

If I go back to Liverpool then I will stay again.

Room Tip: Choose the 4th floor

This is a superb hotel. In essence, they have stripped out all the hotel amenities/facilities that you pay for, but don't use, in order to concentrate on providing high quality rooms at a good rate.

The reception area is smart and clean and well served by staff. Off the reception is a lounge with free [I believe] espresso coffee machine. Lifts and stairs access the bedrooms - the same room access card controls lifts, so room areas are relatively secure.

Rooms are spacious - I understand there are many room formats to suit differing requirements. Rooms are well furnished and equipped, featuring a small kitchenette area with a fridge, sink, and microwave. The bathroom was large and smartly furnished/equipped.. The construction of the building is heavy, solid brickwork. Accordingly, rooms seem to be quiet, with little noise from corridors or adjoining rooms.

Breakfast is continental delivered to your room by a nearby delicatessen. Breakfast pastries are nice and fresh, but the breakfast choice is rather limited. However, the area is well served by cafes etc if you want more choice or to have a full breakfast/brunch.

The hotel is located in an area well served by bars and restaurants. Chinatown in a five minute walk, as is Liverpool One.

About two hundred yards away is the QPark on Hanover Street. This is pay on exit, and the hotel provides a voucher on check-out that gives a discount at this car park. The Qpark car park is the best I have ever used.

The hotel charges on check-in, so there is no messing about pre-authorising credit cards and the like.
