We spent one night here as a birthday treat. Great service from very helpful staff, perfect location and lovely rooms. We had a family room and it was lovely having two separate bedrooms. Delicious breakfast and would definitely stay here again.

What a fantastic place to stay, can't get better with the location, on steep hill just down from the cathedral! The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful, except to the wasp that flew in after breakfast . The room was lovely, good size, comfy bed, good strong shower, and great views (garden suite room) we had a lovely garden at the front which you can see in my pics! Our room is on the middle floor in the pics!
The breakfast was fantastic, lots of options of milk and cereal, pan-au-chocolate, orange, apple juice, tea, coffee, AND a hot breakfast (I had full English mmmmm) great start to day! Will definitely go back and would definatly recommend to a friend! Thank you

Can not fault anything with the whole experience. The conversion from an old chapel is superb. We stayed in the room Doves on the rooftop terrace. As the rebuild is recent everything is still new feeling and well maintained. Staff are very attentive and nothing seems to put them out. We sent luggage in advance without any trouble to the staff.
Breakfast keeps you going for a while and is superbly cooked by Tracey in the smallest catering kitchen we have ever seen. We would love to stay again but having seen the castle and cathedral we are not sure if we would find it as interesting for a secon visit. It would be great if we could find somewhere identical in York.

Room Tip: We had a rooftops room but it seems they are all of the same high standard.

Stopped off at the tea room annex enrout up steep hill. Very welcome rest. Very friendly staff. Fast efficient service. Staff are more than happy to let you catch your breath before ordering. Great food too. Definitely worth a visit.

Stayed for 3 nights in Sunflower room on the ground floor. Many thanks to the attentive and friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble. Particular thanks to Laura who was extremely helpful, courteous and made us feel very welcome. A lovely find, just within the shadow of the Cathedral and Castle. Highly recommended. Thanks for such a great stay!
