Bathroom bliss at the Duke William Hotel. Sadly we only spent one night at the Duke William Hotel but the room we had which was the King Premium room en-suite with bath - garden view room 1 was really special. The room is large and furnished to an exceptionally high standard and the bathroom is huge with massive walk-in shower and separate roll-top bath and the finish to the whole bathroom was really excellent.
Everywhere was spotless and gleamed at the Duke William throughout. The only thing to mention is it was the hottest night of the year so we had the window open and suffered from the noise of the patrons below drinking in the garden area of the Duke William which did stop at 11.00pm but then we had the noise of the cleaning of the tables etc and then the staff turning up at 6.30am the following morning. There is a fan in the room but it was still really hot.

As guests of the Duke William a table had been reserved for us for the evening regardless of what time we ate which was nice and the breakfast was freshly cooked to order but as a previous reviewer mentioned you do have to chase toast as its not offered or brought unless asked for.

We do hope to stay again at The Duke William soon but perhaps in a room with the street view next time.

We stayed here in July 2018 for our wedding anniversary and it was one of our best trips.

PROS
Lincoln is beautiful: quirky buildings, independent shops, cafes, pubs plus awesome castle and cathedral.
Hotel is brilliantly located at the top of the outstanding ‘Steep Hill’.
We stayed in room 6. Spacious and luxurious. Huge bed.
The entire hotel is immaculately clean and well-presented.
Staff are friendly and helpful. We had a particularly lovely waitress, (small brunette)!
We chose to eat in the pub. Again this was immaculate, tasteful and cosy.
The food and drink were fab and reasonably priced.
Breakfast matched the above for quality. I can heartily recommend the smoked salmon and poached egg on French toast.
Lovely, powerful warm shower.

CONS
(And I’m really struggling here...)
Noise from the road / passers by was a little too noticeable. Nothing really that this great hotel can do about that. It’s an old building and our room faced the road.

This is the first time I’ve reviewed anywhere we’ve stayed, so it must be good. Can’t wait to come back!

The Duke William Hotel is also a pub and was originally built in the 17th century. The olde worlde charm is warm and welcoming and the bedrooms are found through a rabbit warren of corridors. I don't think there is a square wall in the building but the décor is lovely and befits the internal structure and design of the building.
The bedroom we were in, overlooked the rear yard and had a lovely big bed and a very modern bathroom . Whilst there is no air conditioning there is a fan in the room should it be required although on our visit it wasn't.
The atmosphere in the bar area was jovial and enjoyed by all age groups. Our breakfast was freshly cooked to order, and was delicious.
Danielle, with whom we spoke was a great advert for the premises with her attentive and interested attitude towards her clientele.

If you enjoy the rustic charm of accommodation over a classic hotel then I would suggest the Duke William could fit your bill as it certainly did ours. Thanks,

Room Tip: I believe there are only 8 rooms.
