My wife and I stayed for one night and were greeted by enthusiastic and personable reception staff, who were keen to do whatever was needed to make you feel at home. The charge of £10 per night for parking was a surprise and too expensive, given that overnight parking within 100 yards was much cheaper.
The room was quirky, to say the least, but with plenty of charm. The bed was large and comfortable and there were oak beams and a vaulted ceiling that looked great. Lots of ducking under beams was needed, even for my 5 ft 3" wife. The most bizarre thing was that the shower cubicle in the corner of the bedroom - yes, in the corner of the bedroom!
Breakfast is served in the tapas restaurant next door and although it was very good quality (especially the sausage), the choice is tiny and service was slow, albeit very friendly.
This is not a hotel for people who like straight walls, air conditioning and standard levels of catering - but the location is great.More
