Recently stayed with friends at the Cliffs for an Easter break. We had recommended the Hotel to our friends having stayed there previously and had enjoyed our stay then. Our rooms were situated at the back of the Hotel and were of a reasonable size, comfortable and kept spotlessly clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the choice of food was excellent and always served hot. We were all impressed by the hot and cold buffet for the starters and sweets and were spoilt for choice! Varied menu for the main course. Excellent entertainment, usually a vocalist and a comedian and we particularly enjoyed Carl Schofield, his 'rap' song at the end of the evening was very clever! Our only criticism was some irresponsible parents who let their children onto the floor when the singers/comedians were performing despite being asked by the compere to keep children with their parents. The children had already had their own disco from 8.30 - 9 pm, also activities during the day with a magic show, fancy dress and their own club and it was somewhat annoying for everyone including the acts when 2 year olds were allowed to roam around well after 10 pm at night! Some were so tired and needing to go to bed, but the parents still kept them up. This is not the fault of the Hotel as they did request parents to keep children under control. We have grandchildren ourselves and realise the Cliffs is a family hotel, but when we have stayed previously there has not been a problem. The Cliffs is situated in a very convenient location with a bus stop outside the Hotel and also a tram stop opposite.
We had a group ticket on the tram for £15 for four and went to Fleetwood and over on the little ferry to Knott End where there is a lovely cafe for coffee or lunch, which made an enjoyable day out. We would definitely visit the Cliffs again in the future, but would probably choose a quieter time of year.

The best place i go too. I have been to so many hotels and not one single one of them adds up to this. The hotel has the kindest staff, who are always willing to help you, with anything you need, especially the Leisure Club staff. There is always something for kids to be doing in the Kids Club which is run by Adults, which let them participate in lots of different activities and then a party at the end of the week. One thing i need to comment on is the food, you CANNOT get better food, theirs always something for everybody, including vegetarian options. Overall there is NOTHING bad about this hotel, and has never been a problem, and i have been going 15 years in a row in Easter.

Room Tip: Best views would have to be sea view, floor 1 for wifi as well.

There are aspects of this place which are really great. Having never stayed before (in all my years!) at a traditional English sea front hotel was curious as to what to expect.

So the good stuff…….

- Each and every member of staff was excellent from the cleaning crews to the waiters and reception team – all pleasant, greeted you on passing and very helpful when you needed them
- Considering the number of guests they were catering for, the speed and quality of food was surprisingly good. Wouldn’t stand up to Master Chef but very pleasant. The bit that impressed me was the children’s meals – they always arrived within 2 minutes of ordering and was the right the temperature to let them eat straight away (without the usual routine of blowing on the chips for 5 minutes!).
- The dining room was well presented and managed

The bad…….

- there are areas of this hotel in major need of renovation in my opinion mainly around the communal areas, reception is a bit tired but the corridors are frankly depressing (pictures attached)
- the bathrooms by the leisure suite were run down but also appeared that nothing had been done for at least 3 years based on the annual graffiti added by (I’m guessing) some teenager brought here every year by their parents (see pics).

And somewhere in between……..

- was the rooms, the beds showed their age and were lumpy and well worn
- heating was fantastic though and you could whack it straight up returning from the gusting sea breeze and be warn again in minutes
- they were clean which is the important thing
- wifi was a bit hit and miss and only available in the bar areas (so no streaming in your room!)

Overall, it this place makes a great base for time in Blackpool with a tram stop right outside. Having younger children we didn’t partake in any of the evening entertainment but a full schedule was on every night and I guess also a draw for people staying here.

Would I return again, probably yes for rainy bank holiday in Blackpool, just hope they give the place a spruce up as they do everything else very well.

Nice hotel. Food was good. Beds were very uncomfortable. On the tram route which was really handy. Stop right outside hotel. Entertainment was provided but was poor quality. Hotel staff were friendly. Family rooms had separate bedroom for the children which was really good.

we were given room 339, which in itself was fine, the decor furniture and carpets are have definately seen better days and to be honest for the price you pay i think its reasonable to say they could be done in stages. The hotel was full over easter 2016 and it seems to me the more they cram in the better. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable and dated . The food as always was lovely even though some of the other guests claimed they were forgotton about at tea time .
