Stayed for 1 night (last night) and we were looking forward to staying at this iconic hotel. Sadly we were so disappointed. We opted for a premier room which gave us a lovely view over the sea-front but, unfortunately an equally clear view (through a cracked window pane) of a decomposing pigeon. We were surprised to be asked to pay, in full, when we booked in, not the usual practice in quality hotels. It was also disappointing to be asked for an extra £9.00 for car parking. We were informed that the room would not be serviced during our stay (presumably because of COVID) so if we had been staying longer we assume we would have had to make our own beds!! Surprisingly no offer of a porterage service. Sadly there was a fixed overhead shower, not the easiest option for the disabled and a faulty flush on the WC. All the soft furnishings and curtains look in need of a clean and some of the wall-paper in our room was peeling. The bar was absolutely dreadful with two television screens playing non-stop music videos at top volume (I am sure the predominantly elderly customers really appreciated them). The seating in the bar was mainly composed of very high bar stools and we saw many people give up the struggle to get on them. In addition the prices were very high. The staff were polite and helpful but all their efforts could not hide the fact that the hotel is crumbling around them. The door locks in the Ladies room near the Washington Suite need attention.

Thanks Lady of the Lake for your balanced view of the Imperial. I'm so sorry to read you were disappointed with your room and we will investigate this tomorrow. I'll speak with Matt about the music in the bar, yes we do have the TVs on as background and it does sound as though we've turned them a bit too far up! We do have bar stools in the bar along with sofas and lower chairs and there is also an area, the Derby Lounge where our guests can take a drink, which is much quieter all on lower seating. I'm sorry if this was not suggested to you. I'm pleased the team did their best for you and I do hope you enjoyed you time in Blackpool, making the most of all the attractions our vibrant town has to offer. With very best wishes, Alison and the team

We stayed here as a coach party from the 13th to 17th September.
They have over a hundred rooms, and we were on the 3rd floor.
However they only had 1 lift in operation all week, which considering a lot of guests had mobility aids etc., was a nightmare.
Our menu was set as part of our holiday, but the standard left a lot to be desired. There were several moans from our group, and on two nights we actually ate out.
Drinks overpriced, but bar menu good.
Not a place I'd go back to, it has a lot of character from days gone by, but definitely needs a makeover.

Room tip: No comment on this, my room looked over the backyard!!

Hi Patricia, thanks so much for taking the time to review your recent stay, it was lovely to see you and the rest of your group. I'm so sorry to read you didnt love the food on offer, its really unusual, but we do have a "just ask" policy and can always do something different for you if we know you don't fancy something on the menu. I know the lift situation last week was incredibly frustrating for everyone and it has now been mended. We're grateful to the lift company who pulled out all the stops to get it done in half the time they anticipated. I do hope that you loved the trips provided and that you enjoyed some of what Blackpool has to offer. With very best wishes, Alison and the team

I stay in Blackpool now and then, not for a holiday, I would never contemplate staying in Blackpool for a holiday. I have stayed in the Imperial Hotel many times and each time I am disappointed. The rooms have never been cleaned thoroughly which has been the case the many times I have stayed there. The curtains were filthy and I mean filthy and I don't think the windows have been cleaned inside and out for many many years. The chairs in the room are dirty and threadbare. The carpet needed a good clean. I cannot understand why the carpets are not deep cleaned considering just in a general sense and also the constant messages regarding hygiene during the last 18 months. The toilet didn't flush properly and my partner and I had to try to figure out how to flush the toilet. We had to 'pump' the handle very fast and constantly to make it flush. The iron needed a clean the the plate of it was burned, so I had to be very careful not to burn clothes. It seems that every hotel I have stayed in in Blackpool, it's the same story dirty and in need of an upgrade, in regards to the bathrooms and decor. Blackpool could be so much more and attract lots more visitors if it upgraded the place. It has a lot of potential if only it was invested in and those employed to clean knew how to clean thoroughly.

Room tip: The hotel is suppose to be 4 star.

I'm so very sad to read that you have never enjoyed your trips to the Imperial. I don't believe we have ever met, which is such a shame, but do hope you will find a holiday home which is perfect for you moving forward. With our very best wishes, Alison and the team

My wife and I stayed in room 112 from 7/9/21 for 3 days on a bed and breakfast basis and had an excellent relaxing break.

The room was comfortable , spacious and clean.

The "Imperial" is a grand old hotel with an abundance of character, it really is somewhere special.

Every member of staff adds to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, none more than the manageress, Alison Gilmore who runs a very efficient quality hotel

Breakfast was buffet style, the food was excellent and the staff very attentive, it runs like clockwork. The food was freshly cooked, good quality and quickly replenished, all credit to the kitchen staff.

We made use of the 3 day tram and bus pass which is good at £12.50. The tram and bus stops are directly outside the hotel.

I can,t praise the hotel highly enough and will return.

Room tip: I like the 1st floor but reception staff are approachable for matters relating to rooms

I stayed at this hotel for two weeks with a friend we had two rooms that were good . Yes the furniture is a bit dated but that only adds to the character of this hotel. There is nothing to complain about .. The staff go out of their way to look after you and cannot do enough for you. The manager can be seen around the hotel all day doing jobs from sanitising the lifts to waiting at table and other jobs. I have been here before and I can’t wait to be back again next April Thank you to Alison and all the team for looking after us so well.
