Description: The beautiful restored Dockray Hall is Penrith's leading pub dining experience. Once the home of Richard III , the inn is full of character with intimate alcoves, comfortable armchairs and roaring fires. Locally sourced produce is turned into wonderfully tasty traditional food with a modern twist by our talented kitchen team. Our range of ales are produced , with care, by our very own brewery , Cumbrian Legendary Ales, and are complemented by a thoughtful and intriguing wine and bar list. A 2018 finalist of Cumbria Life's Food & Drink awards, we are only a few minutes drive from Junction 40, M6.

We were on a family trip to Penrith and after a walk decided to eat here. What am amazing pub, steeped in tradition and very cosy and welcoming. The wood fires keeping us warm as we ate. We just managed to get a table and all ordered something different. Everyone's food was simply superb. The local beer was lovely as well. Would not hesitate to revisit if we are ever in Penrith again

We were in Penrith for the day and used trip advisor to look for some decent pub grub. This place was fab and after rating some other places this week with a 4 then this should be a 5+.
Lovely authentic interior. Large tables. Roaring fire. Welcoming & attentive staff. Great beers.
The food was first class pub grub. We had beer battered cod, steak & ale pie and burger. The chips were ‘proper’ and the portions good. The menu was reassuringly small but had plenty of choice and i’ve no doubt every option was super.

We had booked in as two couples for an evening meal. Arrived early but it was no problem, they have a well stocked bar The waitress who looked after us was freindly and professional. Food was very special. The dressed crab starter was lovely on the palate and the scollop starter was generous. Both were served lovely on the plate. For main courses we hit the red meats. The rump steak and veal dishes were cooked perfect, presented well and great value. Will defo try again. Only fault was it was a bit chilly at the back of the room.

Superb cheese and onion soufflé, nice burger, big and ok fish and chips. Nice looking place. May have been short staffed as we waited a while to pay.

Wonderful atmosphere and amazing food. The staff were attentive and friendly, the barman was knowledgeable and recommended excellent gins and local beer which were thoroughly enjoyed. The food was of great quality and with some combinations of ingredients which, though unusual, worked really well. A really memorable meal in a truly beautiful and historic setting.
