Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, we really appreciate your kind words :) so glad you enjoyed your stay and the breakfasts :) hope to see you again soon, Sam and Tiree xx
This review is long overdue! We stayed at the beautiful Crosthwaite house last August for two nights with our 8 month old daughter. We booked reasonably last minute and found that Sam and Tiree couldn't do enough to accommodate our travel plans (arriving after 9pm at night). We also really liked the warm welcome given to our daughter having found a great number of B&B's and hotels do not take babies/children, we were very glad that Crosthwaite hotel did.
The entire hotel is beautifully though out with quirky decorations, perfect for any one who loves vintage style. The sitting room and breakfast room have beautiful views over the Lythe valley and we felt so at home sitting in both of the rooms.
The hotel is about 10 minutes away from the M6 motorway but feels like a world away. It was about 15 minutes to Windermere and 15 minutes to Kendal by car, but rather than stay in either of those busy and bustling touristy places, we felt like we had stayed in the "true" Lake District.
The rooms again were beautifully decorated and the entire hotel was spotlessly clean. Sam and Tiree were extremely helpful and kind and clearly work very hard to make sure their guests are well looked after and to make sure that their hotel stays at a high standard. Little extras such as the cake in the hallway which guests can help themselves to and the torches guests can take to make sure they get to and from the nearby pub safely all make the hotel stand out from the crowd.
The breakfasts were absolutely delicious, by far the nicest we have ever had at a B&B and such an extensive selection! We also ordered a packed lunch which are available with notice which was very nice and also very convenient.
For a long time I viewed B&Bs as "just a place to sleep", but Crosthwaite was so much more, we have stayed at a number of B&Bs and expensive hotels in the past and none of them have the charm or high standards of Crosthwaite. It is testament to how lovely the hotel is that I decided that was where I wanted to go for my 30th birthday....so we booked again and will be staying again in 2 weeks time....not only with my husband and daughter, I'm taking my parents along to to show them how lovely it is....we can't wait!
Hello! Thanks for leaving us such a lovely and detailed response, we really appreciate it :) We're very flattered that you've chosen to return for your celebrations, we look forward to welcoming you back! Best wishes
Tiree and Sam xx
This is a truly special B and B. You can tell a lot of hard work has gone into the running of the house.
It's perfect for those looking for a relax away from everything, to walkers looking for somewhere to stop for the night.
From the moment we arrived we were given a very cheerful and warm welcome from Sam.
We'd definitely stay again in the future. Great breakfasts and cakes for guests were a brilliant and delicious touch.
Thanks so much for leaving us such a lovely review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your stay, it means so much to us! Thanks, Sam and Tiree xx
Really enjoyed our stay here.
Crosthwaite is a lovely, little village just outside the main tourist trail (but only a short drive away from great fell walks).
Crosthwaite House is beautiful, our room was great and impeccably clean. We loved the lounge (especially the lights and fire in an evening), mini cakes/nibbles in the hall were an extra treat.
Breakfast was really tasty.
(ps thanks for the extra sausage!!!)
Hello! Thank you so much for leaving us such a fab review, we really appreciate it. So glad you enjoyed your stay. We'll pass your comments on to our new cleaner, along with a little tip for her from us, as she's doing a great job :) glad there was a spare sausage for you! See you again, Sam and Tiree x
With a big family party we stayed in this B&B for a wedding. It was great, we were made to feel so welcome. The little extra touches such as fresh flowers and home bakes just showed how much this family cared about making strangers feel at home in their beautiful house. We really were made to feel special for the weekend, an experience I will not soon forget. Smiling just remembering this lively weekend right now. Nothing to say but thank you so much.
Oh what a lovely review! Thank you so much :) Really glad you enjoyed your stay - it's a lovely house to have big gatherings in, we do the same in the depths of winter when we're closed! Glad you have happy memories and hope to maybe see you again. Best wishes Sam and Tiree x
The Dawsons never fail to make our stay at Crosthwaite House perfect. So easy to book, so friendly, always happy to help us plan our walks... Pubs to eat at... Villages to visit.
Can't wait to go back.
Ahh thank you so much, such nice words to hear :) we love helping lovely people to enjoy this lovely area! See you again, Sam and Tiree x
