We can not recommend this establishment highly enough! Quaint village, staff amazing! Rooms the cleanest we've ever seen. We have stopped in room 2 and room 3, both superior rooms. The absolutely, bubbly, lovely lady who served our breakfasts couldn't do enough for us, and she then becomes the housekeeping gem. I'm sure she must polish every surface, including the bathroom, and tiles! Every room we've stopped in is immaculate! Calley and her team are amazing too. We will be back again. It's our very special place :-)

Hi Loulou6339,

It was such a pleasure to read your review. Our housekeeping team do work very hard to deliver our immaculate standards. Housekeeping generally get missed off reviews so it's lovely to see you've noticed the hard work they put in! Your comments will most certainly be passed on to them and I'm sure they will be walking a foot taller!

Kind regards,

If you are happy to dine in a dog friendly pub and enjoy well cooked food and some interesting specials on the menu this is a good choice.
Four adults ( without dogs ) were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed selecting from a good range of choices on the menu. Our starters included some tasty ham hock terrine and cockles. Duck and stone bass were tasty mains all served with a good and sufficient selection of vegetables. The pudding choices proved too tempting and a rich chocolate torte, panacotta and sticky toffee pudding were full of flavour, light and delicious. Around £145 for three courses for 4 adults without drinks.
We will be back.

It took a little time for someone to attend to us, but once they did, everything was excellent. Very happy guys looking after us and we both had the lamb - OMG so delicious. Definitely the best meal we’ve had this week in the Lakes. It was a little more pricey than other places but the food was top drawer. Highly recommend!

Thank MAKta

Went in hoping to spend a quiet afternoon enjoying a couple of drinks and a late lunch. Soon scrapped this and had one drink then left. £6.60 for a mass produced cider and a coke is steep north of Watford. Then we were told we had to keep scrabbling for cash as they didn't operate a visa tab we could add to as the afternoon progressed. Tables were cramped in like some sort of dark school canteen and a 'maitre d' swanned about confusing everyone by telling them what the specials were but then couldn't take orders. Instantly forgettable and totally unwelcoming - went to the lovely cafes instead.

Hi GrahameandHelen,

It's a shame to read a review likes yours as based on other reviews, we generally always meet our guests expectations.

We don't "operate a visa tab" system during lunch times but we do allow our guests to pay by card or cash

It would seem our pub is not for yourselves but I'm glad to hear you found something more suited to your tastes elsewhere in the village
