My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at this lovely hotel. What a beautiful place to stay, with very tasteful accommodation. Spotlessly clean and very comfy! Not only are the owners very welcoming, but they also advised us how best to enjoy our holiday. Not only by giving us ideas for walks (as we had never been and had no idea where to go!), they also supplied us with equipment!! :D

The Breakfast!!! It was to die for! There wasn't anything they didn't have on offer!

This is definatly somewhere we will be returning, and would highly reccommend it!

Thanks Lynn and Dee

Have stayed at West Vale several times since it first opened. We first thought it was very good value but more recently think the owners have got a little greedy!

The food is undoubtedly good but not all home cooked as stated by the owners. The dessert was recognised by my husband as being one courtesy of Brake Brothers! Nevertheless very tasty. We think it has become over priced for what is essentially reasonable frozen food.

Also the welcome sherry provided in the room... we noticed was only there for the first night and not replenished for the rest of our stay.

There is no doubting the quality of food at West Vale - I had venison which was tender and correctly cooked with flavourful accompanyments.

However, we did wonder about the price, £36 a head for three courses excluding coffee is approaching London prices. We're not saying it wasn't good quality, but you have to remember that this is a guest house, and that the restaurant can be very quiet at times which dulls the atmosphere. Plus it's location means one of any dining party will have to drive and unlike a restaurant, you have to choose your dinner choice the morning you want to dine.

All these factors considered, I think the owners would do well to perhaps include coffee, or just lowered their expectations on price a little.

However, for those staying at West Vale, I would still recommend a meal there if you'd developed a good appetite walking the fells!
