The best all round hotel we have stayed in. Lovely quiet surroundings, gorgeous food and excellent staff. Stayed at The Rothay Gardens for 1 night as a birthday treat and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The room was nice and spacious with a balcony over looking the river. Dinner in the restaurant is a must the food was delicious and the service was the best we have received. Staff were friendly and helpful but never intrusive. Thank you Rothay Gardens we will be back for another stay.

We’ve just stayed at this hotel for a special anniversary treat. What a treat! We had a fantastic room with a large balcony overlooking the river which we managed to make use of as the weather was kind to us. It was also great sitting in the lounge area of the room in the evening with the doors open to hear nothing but the sound of the river.
The room was so quiet and dark we slept well.
We had dinner. What amazing food we had, with perfect service;Unobtrusive but highly attentive waiting staff with impeccable manners. They had knowledge from our daughters that it was a special anniversary and for dessert treated us to 2 mini versions of all the puddings on the menu on a large platter. Thank you! The spa was a welcome treat also after all our walking. A haven of peace and tranquillity. Highly recommend for a treat to remember. Thank you again!

Great staff here that are really friendly. We had a balcony room which was lovely and clean apart from the balcony! Lots of dirt and cobwebs! Needed a sweep for sure but it didn’t put me off!
Meals are excellent and if you like red wine I would recommend their Penny Lane pino noir. Great value at £30 a bottle and great taste.
We have booked again for January as they have a great deal on!! Bringing both sets of parents next time.

Fabulous hotel and first rate dining experience!

Incredibly attentive staff, spotlessly clean throughout and excellent dining experience ensured that we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience at the Rothay Garden Hotel. Couple all of this with an idyllic location, stunning garden with carefully crafted lawns, colourful flower beds and beautiful trees adding different textures, with the mountains in the background, all led to a feast for the senses.

Loved the Damana toiletries!

Only tiny concern was that although the hotel is modern there was no lift though there are suites on the ground floor - just have to ask at time of booking!

Room Tip: If mobility issues ask at time of booking for a ground floor room as no lift. If need single occupancy, again ask at time of booking.

We have just returned from 2 glorious nights spent at the Rothay Garden Hotel, we have stayed at many great Lake District hotels in the past 30 years but are thrilled to discover this our new favourite.
Excellent, friendly and professional staff and I can’t sum up in words how awesome the dinners were, huge thanks and respect to the chefs, each of our various courses over both evenings were utterly sublime.
The spa part of the hotel is so nice and not overly used, we went across both afternoons and found it amazingly relaxing.
We stayed in a riverside room and it was well appointed with a shared riverside seating area.
I only have one minor grumble to mention and that is that a mobile phone signal and WiFi connection was almost always unobtainable from our room. Having the patio doors slid open helped but isn’t always practical being on the ground floor. Hopefully if we choose a different room next time that won’t be as bad.
So that’s my review really! Loved it and can’t wait to enjoy it again.
Please book in the dining room you won’t regret it.
