What a find in Ambleside stumbled on this by accident arriving just after 8.40 but happy to serve as last order for dinner was 8.30
Staff so welcoming and excellent wine
But the food was amazing we had the salmon with beetroot and langoustine garlic mayonnaise with fresh vegetables
Then tried the meringues with nuts raspberry and toffee it was so good
Whoever the chef is here they have given much thought and attention to detail in the food served what a great evening

Thank Jen C

A delightful restaurant with a great menu and selection of cakes. Great service from the friendly waiters who made my wife and I feel very welcome. We would definitely come again.

Not sure if the cottage tea room that it was decades ago is still the case. I know change is needed to meet some certain clientele but it seems to have lost its way.

Firstly children are not that welcome and no toddlers as high chairs are not available. There is a children's menu available. There is a notice saying 'Misbehaving children will be sold to the circus' - not a good indication.
The food was tasty, a good varied menu, a bit pricey for lunch. Service was quick.
Not sure about the large dog sitting in the corner whilst his/her owner had lunch. Dogs are obviously welcome but not children!

Fantastic little restaurant. Soup and a sandwich, and a bowl of hand cut chips (perfect double cooked ones) were way too much food for two people.
Great loose leaf tea as well.
Would come again and again

We were unable to get into this restaurant for dinner the night before and when we popped in for lunch we were impressed that they remembered us and asked had we found somewhere! Excellent food and service with very friendly staff.
