As usually the food and service was very good. The pudding menu consists of 2 sides of A4 and so difficult to decide what to have. When you book they always ask you about yourself and each day they print off daily menu's with info about you.

This is our third visit over the years ( always try to get a table here when staying in Ambleside, don't always have any luck!!) so we are almost regulars....
Different menu each night, even included our name on it which was a nice touch I thought. Menu was helpful and a joy to read. And choices were so imaginative and different.
Drinks choices excellent also with super selection of proseccos, cocktails and mocktails. It is so nice to be able to get a non alcoholic drink that is not a coke or similar.
Service is good, and we did not have to wait too long before we were tucking in. Cannot fault the food. We both had starter and main, and after a good rest, I had a super lemon sponge cake, so good that half of it soon disappeared to the other side of the table....
Informal dining. Main course prices £12 to £18 each . Best to book well in advance. Tables possibly too close together but that is my only minor gripe.
Staff very good and had a nice chat to Lucy afterwards.

Booked for New Years day evening meal, first surprise was being mentioned on the menu a lovely touch. As for the meals I had Rib Eye steak with hand cut chips (delicious), the other half had the fish pie best she has ever had. The only problem being is when you have finished the meal you then get a choice at least 20 puddings. Took nearly 20 minutes to decide which one, which thankfully meant by the time they arrived we were able to fully enjoy the most tasteful puddings ever.
