3 of us had roast beef - it was excellent and all the vegetables were beautifully cooked and the beef was fab. My other friend had the Salmon which was also lovely. Puddings - tasty! The men enjoyed the various locally brewed beers that were on offer. Nice day out.

Informal and very relaxed with a lively and friendly atmosphere, the Drunken Duck was packed for lunch. However, service was swift and attentive and I can honestly say that this was the BEST sunday lunch I've had out.

We stayed for dinner too (yeah, greedy, I know!) which was also outstanding. If you're anywhere near this part of the world, take my tip...book this place (to eat or stay).

Highly recommended.

Just be aware this pub is not in Ambleside, but 3 miles further on . We got lost trying to find it but phoned and were given helpful advice.
Food fabulous. We even stopped at Gretna outlets on the way home to buy ramekins so I can try making individula blue cheese souffles.

Only called in here for a hot bowl of soup on our way home - delicious, hot and welcoming on a bleak rainy day. Lovely roaring real fire - could have stayed all day!
