One of the best things about Fell Foot Farm is it isn't expensive as some and was the only place available at short notice in the school holidays. It is worth staying at for the location, but don't expect anyone to smile or be polite. The hostess was quite nice sometimes, but quite scary at other times and you are expected to be very quiet. Unfortunately, with thin plasterboard walls between the rooms everyone can hear everything so it's impossible to be quiet. Our room was quite cosy and adequate with a lovely view - not a large room but good value. We were also given a nice children's blanket for our little boy and he was allowed to play across the road in their garden. So as I said - maverick! Some things were nice, but overall you were made to feel unwelcome and rather a nuisance. We went down to knock on their door as we had a teaspoon missing from our tea tray and got rather a hostile reaction. If you don't have children and don't mind sharing a teaspoon, then this really is the most stunning, beautiful and amazing location - a walk up the road on a Summer's evening will fill your soul for the rest of the year and it is a crazy fun drive to get their from Ambleside as well. But be prepared to be told off.

Lake District Lodge Holidays - what a beautiful Lodge, on the Limefitt Holiday Park. The Lodge was amazing, a real home from home, thank you Judy, beautiful, relaxing, everything you could ever need and dog-friendly too, in fact the whole place is stunning. We had the use of a hot tub too, very restful. Normally holidays go so fast, but we felt as though we really packed so much into each day. Wherever we visited our German Shepherd was made welcome. We would definitely book again and will do very soon. Highly recommended. Go see for yourself. - This is a holiday Park, not a hotel

Pros
- Location unsurpassed - the potential for wonderful treks straight from the door is immense.
- The shower in the ensuite was decent enough and provided plentiful hot water.
- Bedlinen good.

Cons

Owner rushed off her feet and too bound up in the organisation of her own family life to offer genuine customer service.

The reviewer that termed this accommodation and breakfast provision "earthy" is being charitable.
- The rooms were dirty, and indeed all of the areas we came into contact with felt grubby and unloved.
- The hostess rudely took trouble to impose her house rules. Our stay was clearly an imposition on school nights. There was an unbelievable assumption that our very well behaved children would be disruptive. At no point - even on arrival - were we made to feel welcome.
- The guestrooms are clearly used by the family and vacated when guests arrive - drawers full of clothes.
- Mattress in ensuite room requires replacement.
- The ensuite is just about navigable, but is grungy. The shared bathroom (with the family of 2+3) is grubby. Towels are thin and ancient.
- The breakfast is merely adequate, with limited options and limited quantities made available. The hostess does not offer up clear options, but options are available if one asks. The breakfast room is a depressing space, and the hostess does not compensate by bringing good cheer.
- We booked and stayed for 2 or 3 nights, but seriously considered moving on after one. Had it not been for the stunning location slap bang in glorious walking country, we would have done so.

B&Bs are usually great places to stay, a key benefit being interaction with the owners to gain insight and share in their enthusiasm for their location. This is positively the worst B&B we have ever stayed in. The owner put a real dampener on our stay. At GBP60 per night per room, it should be much, much better. We left feeling that the owner's only real interest was in collecting the room fee.

We are widely travelled and have stayed in many B&Bs. We are sorry to have to write such a poor review. We hope it serves as a very necessary kick up the backside. In this game, customer service is just as important as location.

recently returned from a few days at Fell Foot farm. Really enjoyed the location, so quiet and amazing views. The en-suit room was clean and cosy. The. Breakfast is really tasty and set us up well for a good days walking. Thanks Kerrie for a lovely refreshing break.

Stayed in the self-catering cottage in February for a lovely holiday, idyllic location, beautiful with the snow! The pass was shut, so the road was very quiet.
However, the upstairs was very cold, especially the bathroom, even with the electric heaters on full. Bedroom was tiny, and would not have been suitable with a baby. Downstairs got nice and hot once the lovely woodburner got going (which didn't take long each day!) Yes, you have to get your own wood - we brought a boot load with us.
The shower was either frozen or scalding. Also, not much cutlery/crockery (so the dishwasher was of little use as you could never have filled it!)
(Oh, and watch your head on the beam over the fireplace... not much the owner can do about that though!)
