Collections of rooms set in a wooded area mingling with ponds and streams. A varied selection of room standards some with double jacuzzi . Plenty of parking some outside the rooms. Excellent leisure centre. Excellent breakfast, evening menu lacks flare.

This is the second time we have stayed at The Langdale and both times we have requested to stay an extra night because we love it so much. The last time we visited was 2014, well before all the refurbishments/ additions were done and we were very impressed by all the changes. The first two nights we stayed in one of the bigger signature rooms, room 132, which was perfect for two people (very spacious) and the beds are the comfiest beds in the world. The bath tubs are jacuzzi style which I love, and the rooms are very peaceful and face onto a small car park with ours having views of the mountainside. The third night we treated ourselves and stayed in The Attic, room 178, and WOW. what an amazing room. It had a huge copper bath in the room which was a dream, we loved having a big bubble bath in that together. The bed was ginormous and I slept like a rock, this doesn't happen for us usually in hotels as its either noisy, or uncomfy, but you need not worry about that at The Langdale.
During our stay we dined at The Stove, the local Wainwrights pub and utilised the room service. The Stove was lovely, great selection of food and drinks likewise at the pub. The pub is a short 5 minute walk from the hotel and you can charge any food to your room. Its quiz night every Tuesday as well which is fun to take part in.
Over the course of our stay we used the swimming pool facilities which were okay but packed with kids and felt they catered more to families now in comparison to the last time we visited but with the addition of The Brimstone Spa, this seems a fair balance in catering for all. If you want a swim, use the Langdale swimming pool - there is designated space allocated for lengths and the pool is very big. If you want to relax and be pampered, go to the Brimstone Spa. I have visited many spas over the years and this one is the best. It is £45 to use the facilities and you get access to saunas, steam rooms, a gorgeous indoor/outdoor pool, relaxation zones, foot spas...the lot. It is magnificent. We stayed for 3 hours and enjoyed every minute of it. Perfect for couples and you will leave feeling so refreshed and relaxed.
Local towns are a short drive away, we visited Ambleside and Windermere as well as having a walk around Silverthwaite. You won't be short on activities while visiting the area, and there is something for everyone. Everywhere is as pretty as a picture.
In comparison to our first visit in 2014, I do feel Langdale customer service has dropped a little. The reception staff need to perhaps show a little more enthusiasm and attentiveness. This is not a reflection on the rest of the hotel, the Spa and restaurant staff are spot on but your first impressions always count and I would remind the reception staff of this, they do after all create an atmosphere for the place. Other than that, we had high expectations and they were certainly met. Thank you to the Langdale Hotel for another perfect holiday and this will always be my favourite hotel to visit in the UK. Well worth the money and visit and I cannot rate it high enough :)

Room tip: Stay in room 178 for a romantic experience

We stayed in one of the “roomy” rooms for 2 nights. Plenty of room. Very clean. Staff were all very friendly. Set in a beautiful location. We also visited the Brimstone Spa. It’s £90 per treatment (55 mins) and you get use of all the spa facilities - definitely worth the money!!!! The hotel is a bit in the middle of nowhere but that makes it even better. The only thing I would mention is to be careful of the cattle grids if you walk outside (to the pub) at night. There are no lights and I ended up falling right though and my leg is cut and bruised.
Minus that I would definitely stay at this hotel again!!!! It’s a beautiful, peaceful place for a break from city life.

We spent 4 days here in August and it was wonderful. We stayed in a Luxury Room (Room 104) in the hotel and it was amazing. Loads of space, good walk in shower, copper bath in room at end of bed and huge comfy bed. The resort itself is wonderful. Large grounds with trees, lakes, waterfalls running through and very peaceful and in the perfect location in the heart of Langdale.
We ate in Stove on the first night and had an excellent meal and the breakfasts in Stove were superb. Service from all the staff at the hotel was very friendly and excellent. We also ate at Wainwrights in which is about 10 minutes walk away and linked to the hotel. If you stay at the hotel you can charge food and drinks back to your room if you want from Wainwrights Inn. We used the swimming pool which was excellent and never crowded and also went in the Brimstone Spa. We left our car on the car park for 5 days and just walked everywhere. Lots of good walks from the hotel and the hotel will supply a pack with walks in you can follow. Would highly recommend and looking forward to returning.

Room tip: If you can go for Room 104 or 105
