“The perfect end to an idyllic trip”
Reviewed 26 August 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Taking a single night reservation was not normally something Jayne was able to do but after I explained that this would be the last night on a surprise engagement trip, and with this being the only night available, she was more than happy to oblige.

The special treatment didn't stop their either. After arriving early and deciding to identify the location of the Boathouse before heading off for lunch, we found Jayne checking up on the cleaning staff to ensure everything was perfect. She'd even left us Champagne to toast our recent engagement and the roses were beautiful.

The Boathouse itself is a dream. A lack of WiFi provides a welcome escape from a constant flow of emails whilst the well appointed kitchen and living space make life very comfortable.... And then there's the view! Enjoy the sailing boats flitting backwards and forwards during the day then watch from the terrace as the water calms to a mirror like state in the evening with just a swan or two for company.

When choosing a boathouse in Ullswater (or the Lakes for that matter) this is the one to go for. That other boathouse you're likely considering is nowhere near as secluded and the view onto the lake is only from the bedroom ;-)

We look forward to escaping here again after the wedding!

Thank you so much for your lovely review and I am so pleased that you had a wonderful time with special memories. The views are simply wonderful and it is always a pleasure to go there! It would be wonderful if you came back and had more time to spend as there is so much to do locally. Thank you once again
Best Wishes
Jayne

“Absolutely Perfect, Life Long Memories Created at the Far Boathouse”
Reviewed 5 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This is without doubt the best place I have stayed, anywhere in the world, ever! I chose this as the place to propose to my girlfriend (thankfully she said yes, no doubt the decision was helped by the beauty of the venue! It was an absolutely perfect setting for what will be one of the most memorable days in both our lives. The owner, Jayne, is one of the most kind and helpful people I have ever come across. She made sure everything was ready for us with Champagne, Chocolates and Flowers on arrival and was always willing to go that extra mile.

The accommodation itself is styled sympathetically of the surroundings, decorated very tastefully with all the modern touches for comfort; spotlessly clean and offers endless comfort. It is a spacious property with stunning mountain/lake views from the living room and large deck area. The location is ideal (and as far as I found, makes it an almost unique holiday property in the Lake District); down a quiet track on the lake with the only noise to be heard coming from sheep in a nearby field- my idea of paradise and what makes this place the best I have ever stayed at, or even seen for that matter.

The only downside is that you have go to go home at the end of your stay! Definitely plan to come back here one day but wish I could stay there for all of time! Thank you so much Jayne for making this such a special stay for us.

“Incredible!!”

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few nights in February and we were definitely not disappointed. It is without doubt the most beautiful place we have stayed in the UK as the location is simply stunning. The view over the lake is fantastic and extremely peaceful as it is situated down it's own private track and is not overlooked by anything. We highly recommend this place. It is fairly expensive, however on Rob's Value for money scale it ranks extremely highly as you do as the saying goes 'get what you pay for'. The boathouse itself is very well equipped and there were lovely little touches on arrival - a bottle of wine and chocolates, as well as petals on the bed.

There is lots to do locally and two recommendations from us would be Hallin fell (we walked around it and then up to the summit) that you can see over to the right of the boat house across on the other side of the lake and Aira Force that is just down the road on the right. This is a National Trust place, which caters brilliantly for tourists.

It is a little tricky to find, so do ask for directions. There is no Wifi and mobile phone signal can be a bit patchy. We were not bothered by this and felt it added to the break away not having social media etc, however some may be disappointed with this.

Thank-you for a lovely stay. We will definitely be back at some point.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review, it is very much appreciated. We are delighted that you enjoyed the finishing touches of wine and chocolates and we are always willing to add other little touches on request. We have discovered that we can access the internet using 3G if you sit in a particular place, but I think it is nice just to escape! I have noted the problem with the directions and have now added a couple of photos of the entrance. Thank you once again and we hope that you will return.

“Just Fabulous”
Reviewed 10 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Had a midweek stay here in May and absolutely loved the place. The boathouse is everything the pictures suggest and more – nothing can really prepare you for the fabulous view as you come down the private drive and see the vast expanse of Ullswater glittering behind the house. Inside was spotlessly clean, and the heating was on to welcome us. Fab kitchen with quality appliances, lovely comfy sofas in the living room, high threadcount bedding, monsoon shower and huge heated towel rail in the bathroom. Nice touches like plenty of coat hangers in the wardrobes so both of us could unpack properly, a decent hairdryer, and little treats like champagne, chocolates, and flapjacks for breakfast. There were also binoculars, board games, folders full of local information and even artists pencils for drawing! The only tiny change we would suggest is perhaps putting a bigger mirror up at the entrance to the site as it was a bit tricky to see oncoming traffic when you pulled out.

We found the agency letting this property excellent for dealing with – responses to queries always came back the same day, often within minutes. Instructions for getting to the boathouse were very clear and emailed to us immediately upon payment of the balance. What we especially loved was that for much of the year you can book short breaks of 3 nights or more, which makes it much more affordeable – please don’t ever stop doing this! Have never been so sorry to leave anywhere and will definitely be back. Oh, and to the person that said (on the other TA webpage) they would buy the boathouse if they won the lottery – fight you for it! :-)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review and the fantastic photos - the rainbow is my favourite! We do try to add a few nice finishing touches as we want every guest to have a special time at The Boathouse. I have noted the feedback about the mirror and i will make enquires about a larger one - I think it may be Highways. i do hope that you will come back again as each season, even each week can be so different but equally beautiful.

“Perfect Short break”

if you are looking for somewhere special to go for a couple of days this is the place. The boathouse is modern, well appointed and comfortable. There is everything you need in the kitchen including crystal champagne flutes and cocktail shaker. But it's the location and the view that seals the deal. We were extremely lucky with the weather. it had snowed the week before but was still crisp and bright for most of the time we were there. Wrapped up we sat on the balcony for hours looking at the view and enjoying the peace and quiet. Fantastic.
