“Excellent rental property which is full of character”
Reviewed 13 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

19 of us stayed at Blencowe Hall for a long weekend recently to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. This was a surprise for him and prior to our visit I visited Blencowe twice, firstly to see the place and then to finalise arrangements for our stay. I met with Jilly, their manager, on both occasions...she recommended activities and caterers for the weekend and could not have been more helpful. The hall is beautiful with little nooks and crannys and rooms everywhere.... I think you would struggle to find a nicer place for a group to stay. All the bedrooms are individually designed and are full of character, with extremely comfy beds. Their is a large lounge which had loads of room for us all to dance and enjoy the evenings together. Other little lounges dotted around the property meant people could also enjoy some 'quiet time' if they wanted it. The kitchen and utility room are fully equipped, with two dishwashers, 2 fridge/freezers, plenty of cutlery and crockery and a lovely aga. The whole place was extremely clean and we had no complaints at all. We mainly stayed in the hall for the weekend but the majority of us did walk into the local quaint town of Greystoke, which is about 30 minutes away. Everyone who stayed with us were full of compliments for the hall and I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

“A unique and wonderful venue for a perfect wedding weekend.”
Reviewed 2 December 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We booked Blencowe Hall because we wanted our wedding celebration to be a long weekend house party for our two families to meet and get to know each other.
The hall is stunningly beautiful and our guests were amazed by it's character and atmosphere.
We also booked Casenovia Hall in order accommodate all 27 of us.
There was ample space for everyone and the layout of the building worked perfectly for us.
All the reception rooms were spacious and atmospheric with a well equipped kitchen and dining room.
Gilly and her team were very helpful in answering our queries before our stay and everything was immaculate on our arrival.
Those are the hard facts. Most important was the magic which Blencowe Hall cast over the wedding weekend. While we were there it felt like being in a separate world away from the hustle and bustle the outside world We were married on the Friday and woke up to a light dusting of snow and bright sunshine on the Saturday morning. It was almost literally the icing on the cake. We were all sad to leave on the Sunday. So much so that we have been thinking of ways to try and get everyone back together at Blencowe again in the future.

“Wonderful wedding week”
Reviewed 24 November 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We spent a fantastic five days at Blencowe Hall with our close friends and family. The building has bags of character and is a great space - even with a house full there was still room for people to find some peace and quiet. The gardens are gorgeous and the children and dogs had lots of fun playing in them. The house was used as a base for nice local walks and a trip out to Ullswater. We organised clay pigeon shooting on site (great fun) and visited the nearby Boot and Shoe in Greystoke for a lovely pub meal. During our stay we got married at the Hall and it was the perfect setting for our informal ceremony. Jilly, the House Manager, was exceptionally helpful answering our numerous questions in the run up to our stay, showing us around and ensuring the day itself ran smoothly. Blencowe Hall is an old building and the owners and management team work hard to keep it in a good condition. We visited a few weeks before our stay and were really pleased with the touch up work they did in intervening weeks to ensure that all the bedrooms looked their best for our stay. We would thoroughly recommend Blencowe Hall for a holiday or a wedding and talk has already begun about finding a reason for a return trip. Thank you for such a wonderful week.

“ideal for relaxation in a location full of history and interest”
Reviewed 4 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We brought the family together to celebrate my wifes 60th birthday. ages went from 6 to 82 and without exception everyone loved Blencowe Hall. For the younger ones plenty of space outside and inside to investigate and run around. and for the older members enough quiet rooms to relax in. All the bedrooms are different and all themed to suit the history of the hall. The management team could not be more helpful both before and during our stay. A truly memorable stay - we will certainly return.

Reviewed 30 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Absolutely fantastic, celebrated our very special mum's 90th birthday with all our family together, we also had Riverain cottage in the grounds. Could not fault the place, it covered everything we needed. We had an age range of people ranging from 5 months to 90 and the accommodation catered for all our needs. Jilly the housekeeper was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We used Lynn Hilditch for catering one of our evenings the food was delicious and the service were excellent (especially as one of the two dishwashers didn't work!) definitely recommend Lynn. As it was halloween week we decorated the enormous lounge area with various halloween bits and bobs and Jilly kindly said we could leave the decs up for the next people, hope they weren't too scary!!! There was plenty to do around the area. Some of us did clay pigeon shooting and horseriding and various walks and boat trips on the lakes. All in all we spent a fantastic few days and we definitely be booking again. Thank you Jilly and Lynn. :-)
