A small but good city hotel, car park is small and with a bit of luck you may get a space. We had a better room over looking the local play park to the front of the hotel there was quite a bit of traffic noise but this didn't disturb us from a good nights sleep. I will say the bathroom was fantastic, it just needs the bedroom to brought up to the same standard which would make it all the better.
Breakfast was super.

Friendly staff, spotlessly clean, excellent breakfast. Lovely secluded garden to relax in after breakfast or chill out in the evening. There's no air conditioning so it did get a little warm over one of the hottest weekends of the year but that didn't spoil our stay. Our room (No. 4) was small but more than adequate for a few days. The hotel is 15 mins walk from the centre of town, just long enough to settle a substantial meal in town ready for a nightcap at the hotel. We didn't use the pool or spa so cannot comment on those. Parking is tight but didn't prove a problem. This is a really good hotel if you want to visit Canterbury without the hassle of driving anywhere. It's less than 10 mins walk from the rail station if you want to take the train. We would certainly stay at the Canterbury Hotel again.

In general this Hotel is just lovely. It is very quaint and picturesque. The staff are friendly and the areas to relax are fantastic. The pool is very clean and well looked after. I would definitely recommend staying here. The only negative is that it is in Wincheap which is not the best area of Canterbury but town is only a 10 minute walk fro the hotel

We stayed here for one night for a quick out of London break. As others have said it's a 10-15 minute walk into town but the parking was perfectly adequate for our car, and luckily they let us leave it there for a few extra hours after check out. The staff were very friendly & gave us some detailed information on where to eat as well as a map. The garden is beautiful - a quiet, colourful oasis. The conservatory swimming pool is small but lovely and I was lucky to have it to myself for a morning swim. Breakfast was good with quite a lot of choice. All in all a nice little hotel (more of a B&B we felt). The only thing is at £135 per night we felt it was overpriced ! We booked a superior room but it didn't have a four poster bed (as it seems most do), and although it had original features, and was well equipped with hairdryer, iron etc, there was no AC, it wasn't very big, and the furnishings looked a little dark and tired. The hotel wasn't bang in the centre, didn't have a bar or restaurant and so not quite sure why it was priced above £100-£120. Still it had it's charm - especially with the pool and garden, and so on a sunny August day, it was still a good choice!

We stayed one night after watching a cricket match at the St Lawrence Ground. We were able to check in at 11.30 am which was a big help to us as otherwise it would've been after the match at about 10.00 pm. The location is great - 10-15 minute walk into the city centre. We were able to leave our car in their car park both days which saved us a fortune. Lovely, freshly cooked breakfast in the morning served with a smile. We would definitely return.
