Description: Cafe du Soleil is situated beside the river Stour in Canterbury occupying a former 18th century wool store and is accessed by its own bridge over the river. The building was restored with a grant from English Heritage and showcases the extensive use of reclaimed building material from the 14C city wall. Our cuisine draws influence from Provence in southern France, and from Italy, to create a modern Mediterranean cuisine. The menu changes with the seasons, and much of our food is cooked in our wood burning oven, fed with locally sourced wood from managed forest.

Good food, excellent service, and good location on the river. Its busy, so you do need to book, at least on Friday and Saturday evenings

Thank David C

As always, I was looking for a vegetarian meal. .....but let's start with my husband who was very happy with his scallops and chorizo starter. His steak was perfect medium rare and the plate was well presented. The vegetarian choices are imaginative and tasty and not an afterthought as sadly is often the case even in better restaurants. The little spring rolls for starters were delicious and the brown lentil (sorry I can't remember their proper name) and kale main was excellent. The restaurant itself is charming Staff friendly helpful and well organised.

The food here was very tasty! We had the Crab and Kentish Cheese Tart, the Seared Local Scallops and Chorizo with Seaweed and the Seared Kentish Lamb. The scallop apple was particularly yummy. Nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!
