I arrived later than I said but there was no fuss I was shown to my room by the charming Dorothea. I found the room to be charming and well equipped with a selection or teas and coffees and a kettle, and in the wardrobe a powerful hairdrier, rollers and brush, ironing board and steam iron. The only thing it could have used that wasn't there was a shoe horn but lets not nitpick eh? The bed was comfy and I slept well both nights. The shower is electric and I was able to have a lovely hot shower each evening and morning. In my room there was a selection of books and a potted history of Fern Cottage which I found to be most interesting
The breakfast I found to be very good value and it suited me perfectly.
Despite his feeling a little off colour, I had the honour to meet Basil after mentioning to Dorothea that I am very fond of dogs. Otherwise I would never have known there was a dog in the house. If I return to St Albans, I will be staying at Fern Cottage vacancies permitting. Thanks for a lovely stay Dorothea Hope Basil is feeling better quite soon.More
