We visited here as it was near to Heartwood forest but we were both pleasantly surprised.
The food was outstanding!
It tasted fresh and like it had been prepared by someone that cared!
I would recommend the lobster and crab starter it was beautiful!
The restaurant itself was fairly empty but the staff were still attentive.
I don't think I could say anything negative about this place!
It was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly topped off with a delicious lunch!

Go on try it .. you will love It!

Went to The wicked lady on the 6th July with family. Food was average ,you have to go up to the bar and order your food and drinks so there is no table service. Massive cue at the bar to order. Place needs more staff at peak hours.

We visited the wicked lady for a family birthday meal. The restaurant decor and conservatory area is lovely and there is a nice garden, a great pub to visit for the summer. But we found the food disappointing and expensive for what we got. Some of the party ordered scallops and got three very small scallops, not good value for £10.50. The other meals were okay but not memorable and all choices were on the expensive side for a pub restaurant, even for the st Albans area. staff were doing their best but the service was slow, perhaps there weren’t enough people in the kitchen that evening, although it was a Friday night. Sadly I don’t think we will rush back which is a shame.

Popped in for lunch and ordered a pizza and fish finger sandwich. It became very apparent they were both really under cooked, no one came and checked back on the food, I went in to pay for the bill and again no one asked if everything was ok so gave us no opportunity to feedback. If it was busy I could maybe understand it more, but it wasn’t even a third full. Wouldn’t go back.

Looking for a venue for a family meal for our daughters 21st birthday and we decided on the wicked lady. It’s not always easy to find somewhere to sit 25 people or to find a menu that will appeal to everyone, but the wicked lady had both covered.
We went for the three course set menu as it had some really nice options and good variety, and it was easier for everyone to choose in advance. We also chose from the wine packages available so that there was selection for anyone that wanted wine on the table.
I had dropped off some balloons, table confetti and banners earlier in the day, all of which had been laid out in an area set aside just for our party.
The starters arrived within 5 minutes of the time agreed and no one was left waiting, with the mains and desserts following with the same efficient service. Someone from the team even went around pouring wine at the tables.
I couldn’t fault my meal, and when I asked around the group I didn’t hear one negative comment. Most importantly my daughter really enjoyed the afternoon/evening.
I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the wicked lady, it is a lovely place in a great setting with great food, and staff that couldn’t seem to do enough to make sure our visit was memorable for the right reasons.
