Thought we'd give this another go as it is a very pleasant pub with a nice little garden in a very pretty village.
We were pleasantly surprised, must be new owners. We opted for the burger lunch, one steak and one chicken and they were pretty good with hand cut chips which were nice and crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside.
The Doom Bar beer was a bit sour, but changed without comment for the Sharps which was much better.
Everywhere were lovely and clean and the toilets looked like they'd been revamped and nice to see a grip rail to help less able people get up off the loo and paper towels instead of horrid blowers.
Staff were all very nice and friendly and helpful and the sun shone which made it even better.
So yes, we'll be going back again now and hopefully the improvements will continue.

I haven't set foot inside The Grandison for quite some time, probably over 10 years, even though it is reasonably local for me. This is probably because it is off the beaten track and tucked behind some lovely thatched buildings off of the main raid through the village of Bramfield, but then this is part of its charm.

It has changed considerably since my last visit, and it is definitely geared towards a restaurant than a pub, however they do still cater for people just wanting to wander in for a drink after a country walk in the adjoining countryside.

It is very nicely decorated inside, exposed wooden beams complimenting the modern decoration and furniture and when we visited we had a Sunday lunch menu to choose from that was varied enough to cater for the adults and children in our party.

We opted for a shared starter of the baked Camembert but to be honest it was big enough to satisfy four people! We couldn't eat it between two of us, but it was very tasty and well presented. My wife and I chose the Roast Beef Sirloin Sunday lunch for our mains and were not disappointed. The beef was very well cooked (medium) and was very tender and tasty and served on a bed of mixed vegetables and served with roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding and lovely gravy (without swimming in liquid like some other places tend to do).

I know that a lot of people say it is hard to get a good Sunday roast, everybody has their only little quirky way of serving this British tradition and pubs do tend to struggle getting the quality right when serving many sittings. However this was very tasty, it was piping hot and it was a great effort by the kitchen producing something close to what I would serve at home :)

There are plenty of outside seating options (not bookable) for a sunny day, and overall we were all impressed by The Grandison. The team work very hard, are attentive without being all over you, and it will definitely be on our list of places to revisit - though I won't be waiting another 10 years for sure.

Good effort team Grandison!

Good in parts. Went for lunch, food was excellent, lots of variety. However the service was painfully slow. I agree with another reviewer that the service charge is steep if you don't get the service. The male at the till apologised for the slow service without any prompting stating "it was because everyone came at once". If you can't cope with maximum numbers, get more staff. I didn't query the service charge as we were celebrating and it was not appropriate to make a fuss. Wouldn't go again or recommend due to the high price and lack of service.

Three of us had a lovely lunch here. Mixed seafood basket starter great but pricey. The pork belly with all trimmings well worth it. My wifes roast beef gorgeous. Pudding a tad pricey as well. Then plus their tip was a tad steep for lunch. It was all rather nice though and would go again. Good service, very welcoming on arrival and nice restaurant in lovely pub setting. Nicely busy so quite good atmosphere as well. Might be a bit tight if full/really busy ! Well worth a visit for the quality food but at a price for such a local place ! A review of the starters and pudding prices may be due ?!?

Haven’t been here for some time now. It wasn’t over busy. Had a nice table. Nice attentive service. We shared the fisherman’s basket for starters. And for mains I had the pan fried Barramundi which was delicious . It was served on herb crushed new potatoes with samphire mange your brown shrimp and a prosseco cream sauce. And my husband had the pie of the day steak and mushroom with mash greens and red wine gravy.
We walked in and ordered our first drinks at the bar. Which we took to the table. Had a second drink brought over. A shared starter and a mains brought to the table. . £7.32 added service charge for 2 people. Not on. We go out every Saturday and haven’t come across this any where else.
