Description: We are a traditional city center pub serving Greek and Mediterranean food together with 6 real ales and a good selection of wine. Our food is all freshly prepared and cooked on the premises. We also have live music on the last Sunday of every month. See website for the gig list.

The lich is a good spot on church street, dimly lit, sometimes sport on small screens, the landlord is something of a bon vivant and friendly, there's a garden that stretches round the corner, other places might be cheaper but it feels welcoming to people who aren't regulars unlike some

We went here for lunch, and had a lovely time. The landlord is a great guy and super friendly, and bought over a printout with the history of the pub since I was busy taking photos. Which I thought was very nice of him.

They have a good range of beers and wines, and the food is mediterranean. We had the tasting platter, and a couple of other dishes which were more than enough for the three of us to share. It was quite quick and very tasty, and I especially loved the big beans! I would definitely go back!

A great find, with predominately Greek food, excellent beer and a warm welcome. I started with the Hummus, followed by the Kleftiko and my companion (a vegetarian) had the Prawn Cocktail and the Gigantes Beans (a stew with butter beans, celery and carrots) which we were told was a family recipe. The Tavern is situated in Church Street, very conveniently placed for a visit to the Cathedral.

We were tempted by some previous reviews and the Greek theme, as we love Greece and the food. But it was very average, the meatballs had none of the herby taste you get with real greek meatballs. My chicken kebab was Ok but the pitta brad it came in was well padded out with salad, the mayo was nice though. Also nice local lager.

A group of 8 of us ate here. The whole experience was great from booking to paying.

The pub did special meze dishes for us to share. Plenty of food - meat balls, beans, feta, halumi, artichokes, olives, hummus, salad, chips, pitta, and a few other things were served - all beautifully cooked.

The cost was excellent, and service was good and friendly.

For what just looks like a pretty standard town centre pub, this was a really nice surprise.
