Owner description: The public galleries at the Royal Marines Museum will be closing on 1st April 2017.

The museum is currently closed until 2020 when it will reopen inside the historic dockyard. The original home for the museum at Eastney is due to be redeveloped, so for the time being there is NO RM Museum

Situated at the far end of Southsea Seafront. Left of the Pier the entrance has large Statue of Royal Marine. Large building holds many items tracking the marines history. What was once barracks is now private housing. They do hold events so check for Days Times and Prices.

We visited the museum and spent a great afternoon walking around. The medal room is particularly interesting and the stories of the people to who they were awarded is fantastic. Hurry and see the museum in it's current location at the east end of southsea beach at the old marine barracks. The museum is due to be moved to the dockyard in the near future.

Visited August 2017 and it was closed, pending the move to the Historic Dockyard. There's no other reason to go to this end of Southsea, so you can save yourself a journey.

Would have liked to have gone here, as my father was in the Royal Marines.Unfortunately is was closed. It is going to re-open at sometime at the Dockyard ,so hopefully I will be able to go there when it has moved.
