Room 1 has a four-poster but faces the main road so we moved to room 3 (overlooks the courtyard / passageway) and is a quiet family room with a double and a single bed and can accommodate a dog. Room 3 has a minimal tub type bath – insufficient for a bath - while the “bath” had sufficient water pressure the water pressure for the shower was barely adequate – only 4/10 for the bathroom however the bedroom was good at 8/10.
Rooms 19 and 20 have been recently renovated and both couples that stayed in them loved them but on one night at about 05.00 they were all woken by a noisy delivery to the Co-Op supermarket next door. The hotel should address this issue with the Co-Op.
Breakfast was OK though I had kippers twice and on both occasions they were overcooked – all other breakfasts were ample and cooked correctly. All of the personnel were helpful and the hotel has character. The hotel does not have its own car park, however, across the road there are usually spaces where you can park for an hour for free. A free long-term car park is approximately five minutes walk away. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard that we greatly appreciated – and the lounge for residents was also great.More
