Description: Sitting half way between Stroud and Nailsworth, this 250 year-old former coaching inn, built in the heyday of the Stroud wool industry, oozes rustic character and charm. The Old Fleece has a very relaxed and homely atmosphere and is run by a team of staff who are friendly, attentive and efficient. Enjoy the lively atmosphere of the popular terrace during the summer months and snuggle up next to our roaring fire when the nights draw in.

Visited with friends in August 2017 for evening meal to celebrate a birthday. All chose the halloumi burgers though only 1 of us actually vegetarian and they were absolutely delicious: superb brioche bun, delicious chips, huge slab of halloumi with pesto and a tomato and onion salsa. Moist, salty, very tasty. Definitely to be repeated. Desserts were crispy waffles with caramel sauce and banana ice cream (delicious ice cream), chocolate brownie with salted caramel sauce and ice cream, and Eton mess - all good but I'm not such a dessert fan. Staff were attentive and helpful. Lovely to take drinks to the sofas at the end of the meal. Lovely evening, will go again- (restored my faith after previous visit several years ago when I wasn't that impressed.)

Booked for my Mums birthday, Had a fab Sunday dinner - Roast beef and scrummy chocolate brownie dessert ! (oops!). Everyone (6) was happy with their food and the service was brilliant - very accommodating as i took balloons cake banners and gifts in and they didn't mind a bit and carried the cake out when we were ready.

A lovely pub with lovely food and staff - first time and would definitely go again

Visited this old favourite again last evening. Booked a table late online and requested our favourite which was available. Welcomed by permanent staff (yes we do visit frequently) and felt comfortable from the start. I had pork loin and my husband had chicken from the specials board. Both cooked well, tasty, and a good quantity. Service good and unobtrusive. Really good value for money, especially if you use vouchers online, buy one main, get one for £3.50. Naturally we will be returning.

During our time in the Cotswolds this was one of the best meals we had during our holiday. We went here on recommendation of our landlady at Valley Views B&B and were not disappointed in any way.
It was on the main road but was charming and traditional inside. The staff were very casual and friendly which made you feel welcome and the food was really excellent.
Price wise it was in line with most other pubs in the Cotswold who do food but the cuisine was all freshly prepared/cooked and a step up from the norm which has essentially bumped this place in my view from 4 to 5 stars.
Make a point of going here if you are in the vicinity of Middleyard/Kings Stanley/Stroud - you won't be disappointed.

We have been to this Pub before and as usual we were welcomed although we had not booked a table. We ordered Hake and Lamb both of which were excellent, the Lamb was done to perfection and so tender, I was so impressed with the Hake and the presentation of both dishes.
