I've had lunch here a few times recently and, in my limited experience (I've only lived here two months), this is the best lunch place in Stroud.
I had some fishcakes here, which were probably the best fishcakes I've ever eaten, and a very good lamb shank and salmon fillet with Hollandaise sauce. The house wines are well chosen and, like the food, reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
The restaurant is very small and cosy, but cleverly arranged and there's a small bar upstairs where they sometimes have live music. There's also a very pretty courtyard with tables out the back.
I can't recommend JRool highly enough. The only drawback is that they don't open in the evenings at the moment. I was told this is due to staff shortage, so hopefully that will change soon.
