I've had lunch here a few times recently and, in my limited experience (I've only lived here two months), this is the best lunch place in Stroud.

I had some fishcakes here, which were probably the best fishcakes I've ever eaten, and a very good lamb shank and salmon fillet with Hollandaise sauce. The house wines are well chosen and, like the food, reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

The restaurant is very small and cosy, but cleverly arranged and there's a small bar upstairs where they sometimes have live music. There's also a very pretty courtyard with tables out the back.

I can't recommend JRool highly enough. The only drawback is that they don't open in the evenings at the moment. I was told this is due to staff shortage, so hopefully that will change soon.

Found this lovely place during the Stroud Fringe Festival. The food here is awesome and caters for the whole family. The menu is well priced and the staff friend and organised. There is a beautiful courtyard (which is currently hosting a great band) as well as spacious indoor seating and a couple of tables in the front for pooch owners to be able to stop and enjoy the pleasures/perks also ;) definitely coming again!! ;)

Tried the early bird promotion on a Friday night, starter and a main for £12 before 19.00. Started with black pudding and chorizo salad, followed by burger in brioche bun. Excellent value, enjoyed the live guitarist who added to the ambience. Only slight frustration was that my wife's meals were not served at the same time, I asked the waitress to put mine back under the heat lamp until both were ready. Despite that, will definitely return.

Went for the early bird menu had the prawn linguini for mains which was the best prawn linguini I've ever had huge juicy prawns with a great taste of garlic and chilli .
The ambience is lovely with a man playing a guitar just enough for background music without being overpowering .
Friendly staff pretty little place .
Only downside is the ales offered on the menu are not local . Not sure why not as our region has the best ale in the country .
Keep up the hard work and please review the ale menu.
