Searching for the venue for a special meal, one to occur the day before a wedding, we looked carefully at The Painswick. Greeted warmly, directed out into the sunshine by the most welcoming of staff was a real delight, our ordered drinks followed us shortly all beautifully served. The menus were delivered with explanations of the waitresses firm favourite (the venison pie) and time given to absorb each offering. Having tried the stunning garden we moved in doors to a lounge where a variety of warmed bread was served...such a nice touch & quite delicious.
On now into the dining room to await our choices..mine was the venison, it was exceptional, well flavoured and beautifully cooked, not a scrap was left! The other dishes chosen by our party was the baked cod and the chicken Kiev, clear plates were collected at the end of he meal. I could only manage the tempting ice-cream which was quite outstanding. My favourite salted caramel was saved until last but it was only narrowly better than the vanilla & the chocolate scoop. I am so glad I don't live closer to this super venue as I would be so very tempted to move in!!
Needless to say it had our full approval for the proposed pre-wedding meal when the bride asked for our feed back!!
