“Amazing hotel in Cheltenham”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2012

I stayed at this hotel for two nights last weekend and I was staying with a friend. We were both celebrating our birthdays and this was the perfect place to do it. The hotel had a small car park and there seemed to be just enough parking for all of the cars.

Upon arrival we were greeted by our very friendly and helpful host. We had a family room which was located on the first floor. Our host described the local area and provided us with a map and highlighted the main areas for restaurants, bars, clubs and areas that there was not much to see. It was really great to also find out that we were only a six or seven minute walk from the centre.

We had a family room on the first floor which slept three. There was a giant super kingsize bed and a single pull out. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows that were provided. The room was huge and very tastefully decorated. There were high ceilings and period features in the room. There was a small shower en suite which had a very hot and powerful shower. The room had a flat screen tv with free view - we didn't go away to watch TV but it was nice having it on in the morning as we got ready.

The room was gloriously warm when we returned each evening after a day of sight seeing around the Cotswolds or a night out in Cheltenham. Each morning we headed downstairs to the breakfast room. There was a very wide selection from cereals, fruit, yogurt, croissants as well as a hot menu that you could order from. The female breakfast host was very friendly and was happy for us to choose options that were not showing on the menu, for example hard boiled eggs on toast for me. Service and the food was both delicious.

My friend and I both felt very safe and relaxed staying in this hotel. It is a perfect location for exploring Cheltenham and the Cotswolds and the hosts make you feel very welcome.

just a one night stay in room 4 (nice bathroom! no view - but that is the only negative i have about the entire stay- so no bigee).
shopped in montpellier - just a short walk away (nice leafy green in the square too); then watched rugby in room; snoozed in comfort; finally wine and dining in the hotel that night.
a very nice breakfast, really really good bacon.
scott is a great bloke even if he is a maple leaf fan (sorry mate!). the other staff whose names i didn't get were all friendly and competent too.
all good four star stuff - woofs welcome. we'll be back 8-)

After staying here for a couple of nights for work I booked a weekend break and was not disappointed to return. The location in a leafy square about five minutes from the centre of town made if great for parking and walking into the centre. The staff are friendly and helpful and happy to suggest menu choices. The portions are as generous as they are tasty and the breakfast choices offer an excellent range for all paletes.
The rooms are tastefully decorated in keeping with the Regency decor of the rooms, but don't think that makes them dated as the en-suite was clean fresh and very modern. Room 2 is ideal if you are not up to the challenge of the original steep Regency stairs which add beauty and charm to the decor.
A lovely retreat, not far from the Chapel Spa, Pump Rooms and Racecourse and close enough for some retail therapy at the Boutique shops.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room if you have problems with flights of stairs.

My family and I (inc Dougal the dog) stayed at the Clarence Court in Feb 12 and we had a fab time. We are regular users of nice hotels and Clarence Court is amongst the best we have used. Although The hotel is located in a nice quiet residential square, it is a short walk into town. The building is full of character and the family room we were given was a fantastic size. The staff were extremely friendly and provided us with lots of local info. We had an evening meal which was excellent and well priced (ribs were fab!). A big plus for us was that we could bring Dougal our labradoodle. We were informed that we'll behaved dogs are welcome and this was the case as he was made very welcome. Lots of areas to exercise him nearby too.
Really glad we found this hotel as we do pass through here fairly regularly and will certainly return soon!
Thanks.
