We arrived at The Old Photograpic Studio a bit stressed out from getting used to driving our recently picked up hire car & tackling the narrow streets & parking situation of Brighton’s Marine Parade. Despite the rain our spirits were lifted by Philip greeting us on the front steps, by the welcome basket waiting for us in the kitchen & the beautiful fresh flowers in the vase on the dining table which was a lovely touch.
The apartment is spacious & well equipped with everything you could need & is in a perfect position to explore Brightonon on foot. Really the only difficulty is the parking situation. If coming to Brighton via public transport then it would be brilliant. With a car it is doable but don’t expect to get a parking space right outside the apartment as these are quite limited. Philip can provide you with a resident’s parking permit for a cost of £5 per day but there are only a few spaces available & these are quickly snapped up. Philip very kindly rearranged his own 2 vehicles so that we could squeeze ours in to get our suitcases unloaded & park for the first day.
Overall, despite a little bit of bad weather, we had a great time exploring Brighton & the surrounding area with Philip’s apartment as our base. Would definitely recommend to others especially if you have no car to worry about, but still doable even if you are driving.
Many thanks to our host.
I spent a week in this apartment and loved it. Lovely aspect looking out to sea and Brighton pier. Also very well fitted out. A gem!!
The history of The Old Photographic Suite is fascinating. You find yourself sitting in it's elegant embrace wondering about the personalities who have passed through it portals and into it's former life. Dog friendly, airy, well equipped and with Philip as it's genial host. With friendly, considerate tenants on other floors, this place is the perfect place to spend time in historic, vibrant Brighton.
