Steam engines. Wooden carriages.
What's not to like.
A really enjoyable experience.
Did we really have to open the doors to exit by opening the windows and leaning out to use the outside handle? Memories!
The volunteers (staff) were all very friendly and helpful, willingly providing interesting information when asked. Each and everyone is a credit to the operation.
Prices are not expensive considering there is no other funding.
Southwest Trains could not provide an equivalent return journey for £13 and they don't have to maintain the tracks, too!

Took our young family on a return trip and they loved it. Museum on wheels with a great effort by all involved to bring the trains and 4/5 stations to life. Expensive at £36 for the family on a return journey of 30 mins each way. However you can see why it’s needed to maintain the standard.

This is a great way to visit Swanage and Corfe Castle and just sit back and enjoy the views. We were staying in Swanage so started there, the station is tidy and the staff friendly and helpful and the trains are frequent so you don't have long to wait. The steam train was gleaming and the carriages are well looked-after and comfortable. It's worth going right through to Norden and looking at the Mining Museum, then take the next train back to Corfe Castle.
As Corfe is usually a nightmare for parking it's lovely to just walk in to the town square which is a few minutes from the station. It's possible to get a cup of tea and a piece of cake at the station, and there is also a small museum dedicated to the railway there. As it was a cool day they had a proper coal fire going in the station waiting room. All credit to the volunteers who keep this running as it really does provide a useful transport link and keeps cars off the busy roads.
