We arrived at the Cafe for Lunch it was a small quaint Medieval cafe. We sat on the lower floor on a table with a window Bench. We ordered a Prawn Sandwich, Brie and Cranberry Sandwich, Dorset apple cake and the afternoon tea. It was really filling and we were stuffed after our visit. Would definatley return. Thoroughly enjoyed our food and visit

We popped in for lunch and were able to bring our dog in with us to the downstairs room on the left. Good range of food from sandwiches, cream teas and main meals at reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. Extensive cake menu, just a shame I had no room left to try!

Went with my partner for a short visit to Shaftesbury and were looking for a nice place to have lunch but we found that most other places only offer sandwiches and we wanted something different. King Alfred’s Kitchen did not disappoint. We had our mains from the special dishes of the day and the food was authentic and delicious. We were full after our mains as the portions are generous but we couldn’t resist the Dorset Apple Cake. It was so soft and fluffy. Will definitely come back if we visit Shaftesbury again. Well done to the owners!!

The hubby and i went for a nice lunch while the kids were at school, not local to us but fancied a day out somewhere different. Found this place as it looked interesting and full of character and it didn't disappoint great service and fantastic lunch at a good price.

Full English Breakfast was so badly cooked as to be impossible to eat. Food was reheated and burnt. Impossible to say anything good about this place.
