We were staying for 1 night in Dorchester and needed just 1 night B+B so booked Lantern House with its central location, parking and excellent reviews. We were not disappointed and wish the owners well. The breakfast was very good and I liked room very much - home from home. We visited Thomas Hardys first home and his Max Gate house which is less than a mile away. The only down side was some information on restaurants was out of date (2 restaurants in Trinity st gone as well as the Wine Bar gone).

The owners of this B & B were so helpful and welcoming there was no way we were ever going to have anything other than a great time. They even called me at home in the morning to check on our arrival time and see if there was anything they could do to help. The house is beautiful, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds with beautiful bed linen. Breakfast was great and the location is perfect for accessing all areas of Dorchester.

I stay in 100+ hotels/B&B a year as I travel a lot in my job. Must say this guest house is Very good indeed.
Stayed for one night mid Jan 2016.
Warm welcome by Geoff.
Large room , comfortable bed. Own bathroom although not ensuite.
Great location, short walk to the centre of town.
Breakfast was freshly cooked, everything you could need.
Will 100% stay again if in the area.

We couldn't have wished for better place to stay for our 3 night break. Geoff and Pauline were amazing hosts and couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Our room was spacious with an en suite shower room, a lovely big comfortable bed and a seating area to sit and relax, enjoy our tea and biscuits (all provided) and watch the autumn leaves falling from the trees across the way in Borough Gardens. The local museums, shops, tea rooms and restaurants are a 5 minute walk or 10 minute stroll from Lantern House. Perfect!!

Last minute booking that turned out well. Our room was ensuite, very well furnished and comfortable, and had a lovely aspect which overlooked the rear garden. Jacqui was our host, and she was extremely welcoming and helpful. She also presented a very tasty breakfast, with home made bread!

Room Tip: either front or rear room most acceptable
