Our first visit to Torquay for my girlfriend's birthday and we were not sure what to expect from Torquay or the accommodation in the area. Pulling into the car park you immediately notice how good Riviera Lodge looks. Externally immaculate and the private pool and garden area looks fantastic and really inviting. Once inside I was impressed by how warmly we were greeted and the standard of the furnishings and cleanliness. You won't find a cleaner hotel, and this extends to every room we saw. The décor is quite traditional in the foyer /bar / dining area, with a more modern cosy feel in the bedrooms. Again, the standard of the furnishings and the overall finish to the rooms was fantastic. We had a few drinks in the bar some evenings and the drinks and cocktails are really reasonably priced...they do a great cosmopolitan! Breakfast is of a really high quality, and the presentation of the cooked breakfast in particular (and the standard of the ingredients) is impeccable. What really sets the hotel apart though is the level of hospitality and friendliness. We were given great advice on where to go and what to see, and we always felt very welcome there. My partner and I travel a lot with work and we have stayed at hundreds of hotels both big and small. Genuinely the nicest experience I've had. Thank you! We will definitely return to Torquay for a longer break next summer. You've immediately become our "go to" hotel in the area. There is no need to look elsewhere.

From arrival to departure Carsten and Lee made us so welcome. Lovely accommodation, extremely clean and organised. Great pool and hot tub. We enjoyed drinks in the early evening at their bar before setting out to eat. Breakfast was fun and delicious. Forget 'Four in a Bed' on the Tvs, the Riviera Lodge Hotel is the place to stay in Torquay.

Room tip: We stayed in rooms 1,2 and 9, all of which were very quiet, ensuring a great night's sleep.

We only booked Riveria Lodge as a last minute weekend away. From when we arrived until when we left the service was excellent.
The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and I mean spotless. Love the wee touches, the relaxing music (soft jazz) to chill too in the conservatory, the soft table lights in the sand on the tables in the evening, even the games available in the bar.
Breakfast was excellent, I had full breakfast the 1st day and the poached and scrambled eggs - all perfectly cooked and on a hot plate which supplemented the self serve buffet with all you could want. We didn't get the opportunity to try the hot tub or pool but again the garden area looked great
To sum up Riveria - very clean, lovely relaxing atmosphere and a bar as well.
It is without doubt the best small hotel we have stayed in. Thanks guys.

We booked and travelled on the same morning and after reviewing TA we made our selection. A warm welcome from Carston and we checked in.
Our room was clean and bright but with not much of a view (a neighbouring hotel car park and entrance). The room had been sold as a king size bed but it was only a double, this is always a pity. The small bathroom was clean and had toiletries for guests use. The shower was a big disappointment - not much pressure nor water. Carson later told us that Torquay has the most expensive water rates in the country so maybe that was the issue....
Breakfast, as others had reviewed is good with a decent selection of cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, yogurts and of course the cooked to order choices, sadly they don't make omelettes!
The weather was lovely and Carston was happy to offer his help with walks around the coast, lending us books and leaflets.
The garden with the hot tub and swimming pool (oh the cost of the water!) was nicely laid out, with chairs and sun loungers. We were offered the hot tub but didn't partake which was a shame.
Lee and Carston are as my title says genial hosts, so would recommend this delightful bed and breakfast.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review, your feed back is appreciated. I feel I must take issue with your point regarding the size of the bed in your room. It is advertised as a king size bed, as it is indeed a king size bed and not a standard double as you assert. Sorry to be so categorical on this but the allegation of mis-selling is quite a serious one, particularly when published on-line.

Thanks again
