We stayed at this guesthouse for two nights in order to meet old friends who had come over by ferry from Spain. The house itself is a charming old building, the rooms are comfortably furnished with basic provision. The breakfast was so good that my 85 year old mother sent compliments to the chef for the best guesthouse breakfast she'd ever had! The real attraction of the guesthouse however is the friendly owner and staff who all made us very welcome. In particular, the owner had absolutely no objection to us using the very useful and welcoming bar area as if it were our own home enabling us to catch up with our Spanish friends in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere which was so much better than trying to shout to make ourselves understood in a noisy pub!

Just back from 2 nights at the Drake Hotel. We stayed in a superior king room which was lovely and spacious.
The room was spotlessly clean and we had no issues.
Breakfast was very efficient and very well presented and cooked perfectly, with a good choice.
Overall a very enjoyable stay in a very good location.

Room Tip: The king superior we had was at the top of the hotel so you would need fairly good mobility as 2 flights of stairs.

The only fault with our stay here, was that we should have booked a longer stay. One night just wasn't enough!
We had a friendly greeting, parking spaces, a wonderful shower, comfortable bed and an amazing breakfast. The Drake is right on Plymouth Hoe, so a very central location.

Close to the Hoe, and a short walk takes you into the city centre where you will find lots of shops.
The bedroom was adequate for a short stay, however I found the bed linen quite damp but not sure if this was because the bed was next to am outside wall, or not been used recently. The soundproofing of bedrooms would be benificial as the occupier(s) of the adjacent bedroom had their TV on all night, resulting in very little sleep. With no phones to call housekeeping there was no way to ascertain which room the noise was coming from. I did inform the owner the next morning who said she would speak the guest.
Breakfast very good and hot. Hairdryer advertised was very dated and gave off very little voltage.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. It is always disappointing when a guest does not enjoy their stay with us, particularly, as my staff and I work really hard to try and make sure that the rooms are clean and comfortable. Your remark about your bed linen being damp is rather puzzling and I am uncertain as to why you did not bring this to my attention during your 2 day stay so that the problem could have been looked into and rectified. All I can say is that all our rooms are aired daily, come rain or shine whether they have been occupied the day before or not and like many accommodation providers these days our bed linen is laundered off-site and returned to us washed and dried in sealed plastic packs.
As I recall only one lady guest making a complaint to me recently about another guests TV, I presume that you must be she. The wall, between the room you occupied and the only adjacent room to it, is a solid brick wall and quite thick. However, it is regrettable that you had a disturbed nights sleep, although, I do recall your room companion saying she slept well. We no longer have phones in our room as most people these days have mobile phones. Although, our reception desk is closed during the night, as a family-run B&B we are on the premises and a contact number is kept on the reception desk for guests to contact us if they have a problem. We keep a hairdryer at reception for guests who do not bring their own or find the wall-mounted ones in the rooms not powerful enough. On a positive note I am pleased you found the B&B's central location useful and enjoyed your breakfast.

Thank you for posting a review. We are pleased you had a comfortable stay with us and enjoyed the facilities offered. As you mentioned, we have free onsite parking to the front and rear of our B&B and our central location means you can walk to the Hoe, Barbican and city centre etc with ease.
