We were in Plymouth for a flying visit but wanted to enjoy a really good lunch in a café/restaurant with a good atmosphere - and we found it! It was a Saturday lunchtime and we had wandered around the Southside Street area for around an hour looking for somewhere to eat that wasn't offering only fish and chips or pub food. Quay 33 looked inviting and trendy, clean and busy and the menu offered a great variety of light bites and salads influenced from around the world. Also on the menu were 'Dave's Classics' - a selection of fish and meat dishes as well as a separate choice of pasta and risotto which included vegetarian options too and a choice of sides. In the end we went for the halloumi salad to start and the lunchtime special of seafood tagliatelle. The salad was just amazing with a delicate zesty dressing and pieces of perfectly grilled halloumi. The tagliatelle was also lovely - plenty of fish/seafood in a creamy, perfectly seasoned sauce which lacked the sickly element that a lot of creamy sauces have.
It isn't the cheapest place to eat and the service was a little slow to begin with but got better and you certainly get value for money both in quality and quantity. Definitely worth a try and booking ahead is a good idea as it gets busy quickly.

Quaint restaurant with the most incredible food and great choice of wines at a competitive price. The service, ambiance and quality of food is second to none. We rarely post reviews but felt compelled to share with you our experience. The foods are sourced locally and classic dishes are expertly turned into fine dining.

We came here last year and were lucky enough to come back again. We didn't have a table booked and it did look quite busy but luckily we were found a table. Great menu and service was good too.

This place is definitely worth a visit

This was our second visit the excellent standard continues a little suggestion about the bread served with the chicken liver pate.It was huge slices which swamped the plate.Okay for a work mans lunch but not for this lovely restaurant. The pork belly was excellent. The New Zealand wine was very acceptable. The staff are attentive and the decor is clean and fresh.
