Have called in from time to time. Nice people. Soft and easy edge of churchiness. Upstairs shop makes it difficult for older folk like my mum and aunt. Some talk of the shop changing or at least not staying here for too much longer. The staff pointed to a recent press report that they were looking for change or a transfer perhaps to some church premises. Times change. It would be a pity if this business moved out of the mainstream shopping area but it's in a very specific market and maybe it should be closer to active church goers. There is a shop area inside the back of St Andrews in Royal Parade which has a good many books. Maybe that is the way forward. Meanwhile the Upper Room is still in Cornwall Street and remains committed. If you didn't know it was there, go take a look.

Beware this is a first floor shop with no disabled access. Interesting place but caters mostly for those who already believe unquestioningly and need to feed their need. Staff friendly and helpful. Vast number of periodicals etc.

The name says it. A cosy nod to popular Christianity. This is not a pan theological, academic or established church shop like the sadly no more SPCK but rather a broad extensive selection more along the reassuring happy clappy or Sunday school line. But, the staff are friendly, the number of books large and they will try to order anything you want. Waterstones and the University Bookseller in Plymouth have smaller academic offerings if that's what you need.
