Stayed here for four nights for a conference at the university. Our room on the top floor was clean and comfortable and whilst a little tired and dated looked like it had been freshened up with paint and new grouting in the bathroom. Shower was hot and powerful. There was plenty of choice at breakfast time, more so than in a lot of other hotels and the hot food was actually hot!
The biggest positive review has to go to the staff. Everyone we came into contact with from the desk staff, to the restaurant staff, were really friendly and professional. It's not located in the best part of town for eating out, but it worked really well for us (as very close to the train station and university too).
My advice to others would be to ignore the poor reviews. If you want five star luxury then you need to pay five star prices! For what we paid we were more than happy.More
