This is a great place to stay.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. It’s a comfortable hotel with a lovely atmosphere.
The rooms are good sizes, with en suite bathrooms, comfortable bed and chairs.
They are well decorated and clean.
Toiletries and towels are provided as are Tea/ coffee making facilities.
The food is excellent value for money and cooked as you prefer.
Ample car parking and lovely garden and grounds.
Will always return as it’s like a homely oasis in this hectic world!

Room Tip: Room 41 overlooking the garden.
Stayed: September 2018, travelled as a couple

Well done Buckerrell Lodge! We had a brilliant family lunch party for 22 and the lovely staff were exceptional with their service and efficiency. The three course meal was superb and every dish was well cooked and beautifully presented. Several of us stayed for a couple of nights and we were all very happy with our rooms too.

Room Tip: The ground floor garden rooms have the added bonus of squirrels bouncing around just metres from your window!

Just returned from a one night stay and overall it was excellent . The room was big and clean and had everything you need . Bed very comfortable . Hotel easy to find and very central . Free parking and wi fi a bonus . We didn't eat here as had plans to eat out but the food looked very nice . Set in lovely grounds . I would stay here again and would recommend.

We'd booked 2 nights at Buckerell Lodge for our first visit to Exeter.
Easy to find on Topsham Road, with green signage at the entrance, leading to their large car park.
A "traditional" hotel, with nice lounge bar overlooking the front lawn with tables and chairs for sunny days, and oak panelling in the public rooms.
Lovely friendly staff throughout.
Our room and bathroom was in need of a decent clean. We reported it to reception, who apologised, and it was done while we walked into Exeter centre in the afternoon.
Our room was to the rear, so no traffic noise or noise from the wedding's disco, (great choice of 70's by the way!), but an air-con unit was right outside our single-glazed room, so I didn't sleep well both nights. Loads of hot water in the great shower though!
We dined one evening in the restaurant: again, lovely service. Reasonable menu and a perfectly tasty soup and Cumberland sausage main. Ok value.
Like most hotels of this vintage, some areas could do with a bit of a sprucing-up, but it's all perfectly fine really. My main criticism was our room; dirty to start with, including in the bed, a bit noisy, and I've stayed in many B&Bs at half the price with more recently well-refurbished bedrooms. Our room rate was £100 per night for a double room, £10 extra per person for full breakfast. £150 is the advertised room rate at reception.
We thought that Sunday breakfast times of 08.00 to 10.00 finished too early. At 10.00, there were still around 10 people eating, and the staff started clearing pastries etc away too soon for our liking. Again, this is in the context of our double room rate including breakfast of £120.
Location is superb for the city centre, (30mins stroll), and there's an easy 15min walk down to the river, which then leads to the Quay/waterside.

We are on a hunt for a good Sunday roost , so it was the Buckerell lodge’s turn . We where shown to the table , given the Sunday menu , and both went for the lamb , to be told that the lamb was a mid print , and was actually pork ! So both changed to the pork , and a bottle of wine , the wrong wine was brought out , we pointed this out , and the waitress then disappeared to replace with the correct bottle - to bring out a different wrong bottle ! Eventually we where told that the bottle we ordered wasn’t in stock yet !!! Summing up
food 5/10
Service 5/10
If you want a average Sunday meal give the Buckerell lodge a try , if you want a decent Sunday roost go elsewhere
