This was our third very enjoyable stay at “The most returned to B &B in the area” and it is not hard to see why people go back again and again. This place oozes charm, elegance and understated sophistication. The owners Neil and Neville are perfect hosts, delightful, informative and caring. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable and the continental breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Each time we have visited there has been something new about the B&B and this time it was the addition of a stunning terrace spanning the entire width of the back of the property affording breathtaking views over the valley down to the river Dart. Although it was not warm enough to breakfast al fresco we did pop out to stand and simply stare at the amazing view. Not many B&Bs can boast such an asset and we shall definitely return next summer to take advantage of this wonderful addition to what is already a beautiful little gem in Dartmouth. Thanks for a lovely stay.

This was our third visit to this beautiful boutique bed and breakfast. We understand "The Dartmouth" is the most re-visited place of this type in the local area, it's easy to understand why. Always a warm welcome from the owners Neil and Neville. Immaculately clean and beautiful decor. We thoroughly enjoyed the continental breakfast, which offered lots of choice. The breakfast room has stunning views and the newly completed terrace has added another fantastic dimension.

This is undoubtedly a good place to stay. Modern, bright and immaculately clean with large rooms, excellent views and a high level of comfort. There is ample private car parking. Neil is a first class host, welcoming, knowledgeable and engaging, but never intrusive. This is a place where you can relax and feel comfortably at ease.

They offer a continental breakfast during the summer months which is both varied and plentiful. Lots of fresh fruit salad and a wide choice of cereals together with a varied selection of cooked meats, smoked salmon, tomatoes etc. The coffee is excellent.

We were tempted to award the maximum 5 stars, but we felt that there were a few shortcomings in the breakfast. We did not feel that the orange juice was of a sufficiently high quality and was rather anaemic. The toast quickly became rubbery, which gave the impression of having been made earlier and kept warm prior to delivery, and the croissants and pastries were rather soft and cakey - more like brioche than croissant. They appeared to have been mass produced with the benefit of a long shelf-life in mind.

We do not wish to appear unduly harsh, but we did feel that these small points - all quite easily rectified - would make the difference between what is a very good breakfast and an excellent one. The Dartmouth Boutique B&B deserves to succeed and we have no doubt that many will return for further stays, but small niggles can be off-putting so, please, take these criticisms as being well meaning and a genuine comment on our own individual experience.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view over the river are great

If one has read my previous review then I can only reiterate what I wrote then with this additional information. Last year the lovely patio outside the Boutique's Breakfast room was not in use and waiting completion but this year it was fully operational .Having the benefit of a beautiful summer ,guests were able to enjoy the new menu of continental breakfasts' Al Fresca ' style and enjoy the full lovely views of the surrounding area.Unfortunately we left it too late to take advantage of this pleasure because the weather was not that kind to us but we were still able to appreciate breakfast and the views.Neil and Neville (proprietors) we will return .

Just spent a wonderful two nights at this superb B&B. Great hosts; very welcoming and informative. Immaculately presented rooms. Was disappointed there was no cooked breakfast when we booked but didn't need to be as there was a great continental breakfast with cold meats, cheese and eggs as well as toast, croissants, pastries, fruit yoghurts and cereals. Excellent base for touring with parking on site and only a ten minute stroll down to the harbour. Thank you Neil and Neville. Hope to be back.
