I cannot express how happy and thankful we were to have our entire wedding at the hotel. The location, the hotel, all the staff we came into contact with were amazing. We stayed the night before in a beautiful room with a beautiful view, we had a lovely warm welcome from the reception team and also the wedding events team. They took all the worry away from us and sorted everything out for us.

We were moved to a beautiful suite on the day of the wedding which was perfect. There support, communication and organisation throughout the day was second to none. They guided us through the day and ensured we didn't have to worry about anything. Where we were married and had the reception was stunning. We had lots of children at the reception and the privacy and space and private outside areas meant the kids could burn off their energy have fun without parents having to worry. The staff throughout the day were warm, extremely helpful and good fun.

I would happily recommend the hotel to anyone getting married who is looking for a stunning location, beautiful venue and a very professional and supportive team to help them with one of the most special days of their lives.

We chose this hotel for our short break as we had stayed before in a sea-view room. This time the deal we had was for a standard room however it was a nice surprise to see we had a side-view of the sea. Room small but adequate until we saw the bathroom! No bath which is fine however the shower cubicle was far too small for shower head. You couldn't wash your hair properly unless you turned the shower off! Breakfast was is the lovely dining room with fabulous views of the sea.

Having regularly stayed at it's sister hotel , The Harbour Hotel, Sidmouth, and been very happy with the standard of accommodation and food there, I booked a superior room at The St. Ives Harbour hotel to celebrate a special occasion , anticipating the same high standards. Unfortunately, this hotel fell very much short of the mark.
From unhelpful, sarcastic senior reception staff, ( the younger staff were extremely polite and helpful especially in the dining room), to the tired decor and limited dinner menu.
It was a special occasion for my wife and I being our 50th wedding anniversary, but I didn't want to draw attention to ourselves, so we kept this private. However, I did book a superior room to celebrate. Although the view was superb, the furnishings were tired and the carpet was worn and stained. To our surprise and disappointment, the superior room did not come with a mini fridge, yet the standard rooms did. Our stay was for 5 nights. At no point during our stay were we offered a fridge. I even offered to buy a fridge and install it myself, but that was not allowed !
The lift was antiquated and a nasty shock, run mechanically and with a cage style door - not for us ! As a result, my wife who has a bad knee had to use the stairs all week and suffered considerable discomfort .
The overall standard of cleanliness left a great deal to be desired, especially in our bathroom. The skirting board in there was filthy.
At dinner, we ordered a bottle of £22.50 Chilean Merlot , usually a safe bet. To our utter amazement it was yet another disappointment.
The car parking arrangement was awkward and we would have preferred to have had our car at our immediate disposal and not to have to involve a valet.
Considering we paid nearly £2,000 for a 5 night dinner, bed & breakfast break, we left feeling hard done by and as though what we received did not live up to the hefty price tag.
If we had not lived so far away , we would have refused to stay at the St. Ives Harbour Hotel. Very, Very disappointed .

Thank you for posting your recent review. I am sorry to read that the room you were allocated did not match expectations. I am pleased to say that we are part way through a refurbishment programme and so all rooms will have the same inventory as standard. Parking in St Ives is a challenge and we do try to have guest cars available within 10 minutes of requesting them. I hope you will come back to see all the changes. Very kind regards Peter

We were looking forward to visiting this hotel as we had stayed at another Harbour Hotel and were quite impressed. Also, this particular hotel was more expensive than the other. The first thing we noticed was the shabby state of the hall carpets.
The service and quality in the restaurant were poor, but more of that later. Our major issue was the room, which was very cramped. It was overlooking the main road and as a result was noisy with the endless traffic. It was also located just above the service delivery door and we were woken early each day to excessive noise with the delivery of crates and boxes into the kitchen area.
The complimentary drinks tray was empty on arrival and never replenished during our two night stay. The bathroom was very small and there was no safety mat in the bath for use with the shower. The shower itself looked ultra modern but needed hot and cold indicators as it was either cold or too hot. In addition there was no ITV reception on the room TV.
Service in the restaurant was slow at best, having to ask twice for water at the table. We ordered a quite expensive white wine which eventually arrived at the table warm and it tasted terrible! The food was ordinary at best.
We recalled later that on checking out, the polite receptionist did not ask us had we enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: If you must visit, avoid room 212!

We liked the location that was a 5 min walk from train station and 7 min walk from the beach. Also the town was a short 10 min walk away to all the restaurants and shops in st ives. Only issue was the room was pricey for 2 nights and breakfast was expensive and was automatically charged to our bill even though it wasn't a part of the reservation. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant 1 of the 2 mornings, and asked to remove it the day we didn't eat but could not.

Room Tip: Ask when checking in if you are paying for breakfast
