Couldn’t be happier with our stay at No8 Bowling Green Terrace. The communication we received from the owner Ali was first class & made it all seem so much more personal. The house was amazing! The location was fab, walking distance to the Barnoon car park (which you can pay for via an app on your phone). The view from the top bedroom was to die for! It’s just a short stroll down to the harbour & all the shops & restaurants or beaches. I have a disability & am not always stable on my feet, but I managed the hills to & from the house down to the town. Oh & the beds.....OMG the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time, they were so so comfy! The house is perfectly equipped with all you could need & perfectly placed for an amazing family holiday in beautiful St.Ives. Everyone had an amazing time & have all said we’d stay again tomorrow if we could (2 adults & 16, 13 & 7yr old)
Our first visit to St Ives and it was wonderful. No8 is perfectly located, a stones throw from the beach, the town centre and the Tate. The house is beautiful and very homely with fabulous views over St Ives and an extremely well equipped kitchen. We highly recommend!
We hired the house for a week for 3 couples and a baby! This is our second stay at the house and it was as amazing as the first time! Perfect location, perfect house, everything you need, loved it loved it!
We are a family of four (plus small dog) and stayed here in early September. Booking was very simple and Alison (the owner) was very friendly and responded quickly to enquiries.
The house was much larger than it looked from outside (entrance from the rear) and clean on arrival.
Beds were very comfortable, bathroom and kitchen are well equipped. Lounge/diner in one and a good selection of books and some games. Decked front garden with dining table which we didn't use as the weather was mostly disappointing. The internet was a little patchy at times but we weren't there for that. The harbour and town centre is only a few minutes walk away. Great beaches and clear blue water to suit all users though limited for dog owners. Porthmeor for surfers with still water in St Ives bay. Good coastal walks locally and many a narrow street (often steep) to wander around and get lost in. We can recommend the harbour fish and chip shop (so good we went twice) and some good pubs (quiz night in The Castle Inn was good fun) to relax in after an outing. We went out in the car most days for a coastal walk or beach and saw a comedy at the Minack Theatre. Anyone who knows St Ives is aware of parking issues. The house doesn't currently have a dedicated parking plot so we paid for a week long parking permit at the Barnoon car park but wasn't guaranteed a place on return from a day out. My wife would get out of the car and patrol on tiptoe like a lemur until a space became available (I quite enjoyed watching her running around like a headless chicken from the comfort of a warm car). Alison is on a waiting list for a car park space and hoping to get one soon.
Overall we had a great time and I would highly recommend this property to others.
Located near the Tate and Barnoon car park. The surfing beach - Porthemor - is close by, a short roll down the hill. Both cafes on Porthemor beach are good. 8 Bowling Green Terrace (not to be confused with 8 Bowling Green!) is a lovely house. Works well for a group of friends - plenty of space and if the weather is good the decking area makes a nice place to sit out for breakfast. St Ives is a lovely town - good choice of restaurants, nice beaches, plenty of shops and great ice cream shops!
