We have been coming to st Ives for over 30yrs, and stay in an apartment overlooking porthmeor beach.
A lovely sandy beach, always very busy during the summer, and great for families.
Not far to walk into the town, and island car park very close by.

Thank Gillian P

Fabulous to have so many beaches nearby. Quite windy yet wild and exhilarating. Try the coastal walk from Porthgwidden around The Island. Near the Tate gallery and boasting a seaside cafe where you can people watch with your coffee. Surf life savers here too.
Beautiful on any day!

This is a great beach, flat, soft sand, with easy access and good amenities close by. We went in the august peak period on a sunny day and the beach had plenty of people on it but was not crowded. The sea is safe (obviously no water is completely safe but it doesn't have large waves of strong currents).

We visited on a lovely sunny day with our 2 boys (age 6 and 8) and had a great day.

Access to the beach was down some steps, but quite good for Cornwall I guess.

The beach was a good size and very clean. We found a good spot to set up our beach shelter and headed to the sea. Good medium sized waves for bodyboarding, the kids loved it. We did note that the lifeguards flagged a relatively small section of the water for people to use so it was very crowded.

The beach was bid when the tide was out, and good for playing on. A few rockpools made for a great playground too.

There are warning signs up about the aggressive seagulls - so don't say you weren't warned... I had half a sandwich snatched out of my hand at one point ;-) Something to talk about.
