Just back from a weekend break...the staff are exceptional in service and curtisy...food excellent...Clive the chef excelled himself...Mark the manager really professional/helpful...the rooms nice and clean...decor tired...lovely and warm hotel...John our Shearings driver made the trip really comfortable...disliked stopping in Stretton for over 2 hours...for feeder coaches.

Hubby and I have just returned from a 5 day break at St Ives Hotel, we had a fabulous time, the entertainment was second to none, the best Shearings yet.
Staff were very welcoming and although the tv was not working for 3 of the days we were kept informed of the problem(which was not the Hotels fault) but the entertainment was so good we didnt miss it.
The actual hotel is a bit tired and very creaky so expect a wake up call from the guests above you walking around, however the rooms were spotless as was the reception and entertainment areas.
We will most certainly return for Valentines day (and my husbands birthday both on 14th) next year.
Thank you all for a lovely time.

Room Tip: dont forget a face cloth as Shearings dont provide one and take some ear plugs because of the creaki...

Its great to hear that you enjoyed the entertainment and that you will return for Valentines 2013. Unfortunately there are occasions that disruption happens which is beyond our control, but it would seem that the entertainers took care of things well. Thank you for the review.

1. Hotel - nice old building but getting tired and in need of touch up, our room was a small double which if by the window and other half using dressing table had to climb over bed to get to toilet, that said carpet old & worn but on the whole clean enough with good view of beach from room 301.

2. Staff - As with all walks of life some good, some not so but on the whole decent enough group who do what they do for not a lot, special mention to young lady (April I think) on reception who was very informative.

3. Food/Drink - Breakfast & dinner were good a fair but limited choice on dinner menu, Drinks were limited as with most all inclusive packages between 1930-2230hrs, entertainment was not so great and with a little more thought could of made it a much better experience.

4. On the whole this was a short break at low cost which was good but not great, the hotel does enough to meet your average requirements and nothing more, I would visit the lovely St Ives again but not sure I would stay in Bay hotel again.

Room Tip: Pay extra for superior room

Bay Hotels and Coast and Country Hotels offer some great deals so keep a look out, and they have some stunning locations too. A great way to see what the country has to offer and to make the most of the area you are visiting you can book a four day break in one resort and link this to another nearby, just view the many choices available. Thank you for your comments, glad you enjoyed your stay.

We have just returned from a visit to the Bay Hotel, St. Ives with Shearings. The coach travel was excellent but the service we received in the hotel is deserving of a special mention. My husband is a coeliac and needs a special diet which the hotel managed perfectly, giving him a choice of all three courses each night. Our waitress Maria and all the staff were very helpful and cheerful. All in all I think we will be visiting again in the not too distant future.

weve just returned from the st ives bay hotel and found it good value for the price we paid.the only negative is the hotel is in need of refurbishment certainly the creeky floorboards. All the staff were friendly and the waiting staff are a credit to the hotel,Bella our dining room waitress was friendly efficient and hard working throughout our stay, even the hotel manager took time to chat with us. Our room was small but comfortable and always warm, our bathroom was clean and the shower was very good. The food was good value and always served on hot plates. The hotel is in a position overlooking a beautiful bay with golden sands, stunning. Thanks go to the friendly staff for our memorable stay from monday to friday. We thought it a nice touch the staff came on our coach to thank us and say goodbye.

Room Tip: sea view or an upgrade on room

All the staff work together to create what we hope is a warm, friendly welcoming environment where you can enjoy a break away. I agree that the views overlooking Porthminster beach are stunning. We maybe saying goodbye for now but hopefully it will be Hello again in the not to distant future.
