Just stayed at Watergate Bay for three nights on Taste of the Bay Package. Excellent value, food was great, staff were friendly and room was beautiful, location was amazing. Can't wait to go back.

What can one say? Very disappointing. The restaurant has a choice of two courses at £22 +/- and three courses for £28 +/-. On paper the choices look very appetising, the reality is quite the opposite. I had a Sea Bass starter in a crab bisque. Flavour wise it was just about acceptable, but the raw red onion was overpowering and unnecessary. What was worse, was that it was tepid, it had obviously been standing on the pass for ages. I had Scallops on a lemon and thyme risotto for main, and the flavour was good, scallops cooked well, but the risotto was undercooked, with quite a lot of hard grains. We were in a party of 11 and one of our party had to wait an inordinate amount of time for her starter, which was a soup. The service was pretty sloppy to be honest. Another of our party had to send back one of their dishes, because it was cold. This is a lovely hotel with a stunning location and having eaten at their beach cafe in the past and enjoyed it, I was less than impressed with the Brasserie and will not be rushing back.

Stayed here at the end of the May for 4 nights, 1 night B&B and the rest on the Taste of the Bay package. Stayed in a room in the main house which was nicely decorated and had a comfortable bed.

Breakfast was a good choice of cooked food or smoked salmon and bagels on top of cereal and fruit. Had lunch on the deck of the Living Space 2 days between lying by the pool and relaxing on the sun loungers which was also enjoyable.

Taste of the Bay package includes dinner in the Hotel Brasserie, Fifteen and Beach Hut all of which were good, watching the sunset from Fifteen and Beach Hut was beautiful as we enjoyed the fantastic food and wine.

We didn't have a car so spent 2 days walking the cliffs to the next villages and also along the beach at low tide before relaxing by the pool. There is also a local bus which takes you to Newquay or Padstow, it is fairly cheap and was a good way to vist other parts of Cornwall.

This is a great place to stay and I would like to viist again.

My boyfriend and I checked into this hotel for a relaxing and romantic couple of days away at the end of May and were instantly impressed by it's appearence, great staff and location.

We'd chosen to ignore the handful of "bad" comments that some people had left, as I'd been keen to stay here for around 10 years, and as it was a hotel on the beach, we weren't too bothered about if there was sand on the carpet, or if the sun wasn't out... and as luck would have it, the sun was out and there was no sand on the carpet. So even if we were hugely picky, we'd have found nothing to complain about.

We booked one of the ocean rooms which have some of the best views of the beach - from either inside, or outside on the balcony, the room was clean and nicely decorated and surprisingly very roomy... there was a flat screen tv, telephone and all the usual tea and coffee etc, soft towels and even a couple for down on the beach.

On the first night we had the most amazing meal in the Brasserie (served by yet again more great staff). We had booked our table for quite early in the evening so we had the restaurant pretty much to ourselves for an hour, which was perfect. We then went back upstairs to enjoy the sunset out on the balcony.
The second day we went down for our fried breakfast (cereal and fruit was also available) and then went for a walk along the cliff to see the view of the hotel and beach from the top….which was great – picture perfect in fact. Then we went back to our room to get ready for an afternoon on the terrace in the Living Space. While we were there two members of staff knocked on the door as the cleaner had noticed a problem with our bathroom and they wanted to have a look. They then said they’d get someone round to have a look at it, which was fine. We then went down for a huge number of cola’s out in the sun, before heading down to the beach for an hour, and then went for lunch in the beach hut (yet again, great staff). By the time we’d headed back to our room, the room had been checked and there was a note saying they’ve got another room on hold for us if we’d wanted to swap. We were massively happy with the room we had, so weren’t too bothered about staying there, but I still asked what room it was down at reception…. And I’m glad I did as we were given the second most expensive room in the hotel – with sea views to die for, a romantic bath in the window, wonderfully decorated and had cute attention to detail! And the shower was just the most perfect shower in the world!

Believe the photos on the website – for they are real…. The place really is that pretty, and the two rooms that we stayed in were that clean and bright and visions of perfection. We stayed in two rooms, ate in all 3 of the restaurants, met pretty much every member of staff, were treated like we were the most important guests there, and I swear that if I haven’t gone up two dress sizes after constantly eating all that yummy food it will be a miracle!

This is seriously the best hotel I have EVER stayed in and I can’t wait to go again. I’m going to be having my wedding here – if the other half ever pulls his finger out and proposes :D

A two night stay at the Watergate Bay Hotel.

Our arrival on the first night in the wee small hours of Friday Morning, to a very pleasant and helpful night team, the relaxed "uniform" gets me every time as I thought we were being spoken to by complete strangers at first!!

Checked in to room 28 in the Main House, really nice room if a little warm, as towel rail, and heated mirror were on in the room.

Our 18 month old decided that sleep was not the order of the day depsite the time nearing 2am so a couple of trips down to the spacious lobby for a walk and a look at the butterflies on the walls and some 3 hours later he decided to let sleep get the btter of him. Hooray!!

The shine of room 28 was somewhat detracted by the direct sunlight from early in the morning on top of an already warm room, coupled with the building work right outside from 8am onwards.

We decided to stay another night on a great value dinner, bed and breakfast basis and moved to room 115 which was much more comfortable temperature wise with an ocean view much to the delight of our son!!

The Reception team were very helpful, arranging for our bags to be moved whilst we were out for the day.

Breakfast on both mornings was good, with plentiful quality produce and nothing too much trouble for the staff. 10/10 for the breakfast sausages!

We had dinner on our second night in the Brasserie which was superb, again, quality very tasty food, well presented and not pretentious.

I would also recommend the Kids Dinner seved 5pm til 5.30pm, again nice and relaxed with some great dishes for younger diners with the option of Kids Club afterwards for 3yrs upwards until around 9.30pm allowing Mums and Dads to enjoy dinner!
