The amenities were exactly as explained. The staff are welcoming and are friendly. We always felt comfortable and were able to utilise all the facilities. The location is excellent and close enough to walk to the town centre. This is also and ideal location to use as a base for exploring any part of Cornwall.

Room tip: All rooms are good but the sea view is worth it

The hotel has stunning views looking out over Gyllyngvase Beach and Pendennis Castle. The decor is grand while remaining tasteful. It’s clean, tidy with helpful staff. Nice touches were the liqueur truffles, bottled water, slippers and bathrobes in the room - those type of little extras make a big difference. I stayed in room 112 which was quiet and had a beautiful sea view. I didn’t have time to visit the swimming pool unfortunately. The only small downside is that there isn’t enough parking, but there is unrestricted on-road parking just at the back of the hotel. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend the hotel and hope to stay there again.

There is nothing we didnt like about the Royal Dutchy. We have previously been to another Brend Hotel, The Imperial at Barnstable which was excellent so we had high expectations for The Royal Dutchy. We were not dissapointed. The room was clean, comfortable and had a lovely view. The swimming pool and surrounding area was warm and very clean as was the whole hotel. The food was delicious and the staff welcoming and polite. We have had a very enjoyable and relaxing three night stay and would highly recommend it.

We have just returned from a 3 day break and had a good time. We stayed in the Castle Room, so had a good view of Pendennis Castle. The drawback with this room was that the wifi was only occasionally working.
The staff were very welcoming at reception and helpful all the time.
We had read that the restaurant has two AA rosettes, so had high expectations of the food. However, we found it disappointing with the details on the menus being sketchy so you don't quite know what will arrive on your plate. We found that the meals were improved by asking for extra vegetables and potatoes!
The price for the dinner on the menu was £39, but if you book dinner, bed and breakfast the extra cost is only £15 - so the dinner becomes exceptionally good value!
I believe there is a rolling programme of improvements at the hotel, so I am hoping that next time we go the furniture in the Terrace Lounge has been replaced as it appears to be somewhat worn down.

Room tip: Great view on Pendennis Castle from room 211
