My boyfriend and I stayed at the Commercial Bar and Hotel for our long weekend in Chester in August 2020. From the very moment we stepped to the front door we were met with friendly and helpful staff. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much for them.

The hotel rooms are decorated lovely (we stayed in Coleridge) and they have everything you need in them - iron, hair dryer, toiletries, coffee making facilities etc... plus gorgeous bathrooms!

The only thing to be aware of is the loud music at night... we read beforehand that it normally goes on until around 2/3am on weekends, but because of the current situation it was around 12am during our stay. We knew about this when booking the hotel and they share this info openly on their website. For us it completely wasn't an issue... but it's just something to be aware of before booking!

We will 100% be returning to this hotel when we stay in Chester again. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Fantastic location in the heart of Chester and close to River, Racecourse and Restaurants. Hotel is clean and comfortable and all members of staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious with lovely dressing en suite area. Great shower twin sinks and fluffy towels. Breakfast cooked freshly every morning by Ray who makes best poached eggs in Chester..thanks Ray. Good friendly bar area. Only downside is the noise from the bar Friday and Saturday nights. Didn’t bother us too much because we tired ourselves out during the day so slept well. It is a very lively friendly pub and we enjoyed our two night weekend break. Good choice for a weekend stay.

We stayed 2 nights mid week (Weds.Thurs) and read on the booking site that there was loud music at weekends - it didn't mention that this was also the case on Thursday nights so we were kept awake until extremely late by the disco downstairs - that's the negative of the review over with. On the positive side, the room was very comfortable (all rooms named after poets if I remember right) and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked to order and you could not have asked for a better location, being only yards from the market, shops and entrance to the walls. Bar prices very reasonable for the city centre. Just double check before booking whether the disco is going to be on any of the nights as it is deafening and unless you're looking to party all night, you definitely won't get any sleep

Great location in city centre. We arrived early but Ray who was on duty kindly allowed us to leave our bags so we could check in later. The room was very spacious, clean, warm and comfortable. The bathroom was fabulous and shower was awesome. As it was a Saturday night the place was very lively but even though music still playing when we went to bed had no problem sleeping. Breakfast was brilliant, everything you could ask for and nothing too much trouble for Ray and Luke. All staff day and night were super friendly, a big thank you for making our weekend perfect. Will definitely come back here next time we visit Chester. Thanks again.
