Visited with a fiend for breakfast. The menu is pretty simple, mostly sandwiches and cakes with a selection of seating inside and out. Outside seating provides for unobstructed view of the Cathedral.

I had the BLT sandwich, which comes with a pile of crisps. Although I would have preferred more BLT and less crisps, it was pleasant. As an afternoon snack spot it serves the purpose but those looking for more cooked options should look elsewhere. It is often busy.

Ely Cathedral ranks with Durham at the very top of Britain's beautiful, historic cathedrals. The Almonry could not be better placed, then: seated at a table outside you have a breath-taking view. But that is just one aspect of The Almonry's delight. For very reasonable prices, it provides the most delicious, home-cooked, freshly-made food. You can choose a snack or enough for a very satisfying vegetarian meal. The service is friendly and personal.

Scenic setting with fabulous view of the cathedral. The young weekend waiting staff were polite and efficient. Enjoyed a cappuccino and fruit scone with jam and cream in the sunshine. The interior is nicely furnished and decorated. Very clean toilets.

Good value for money. Not the flashest or fanciest afternoon tea but tasty fresh sandwiches and cakes and lovely warm sausage rolls. The surroundings are a factor in this review. Fantastic position and lovely building. Shocking price for a glass of wine though.
